4MDNJD (4 Months Delayed New Jem Day) ;)

I aquired my first Jem, a Premium 70v, back in July, saved for months for this thing. I wanted to make a NGD back then but I went forgetting and delaying it ever since...

I must say, after playing a 7V I was impressed with what those folks in Indonesia can do.

It's a great guitar for it's value, and if setup correctly it holds up great.

Of course it's not a Prestige, but it sure is a lot better than that 555 thing!
Funny thing is, the 555 costs as much as this here in Portugal(around 1000€)

Replaced all the hardware in mine with gold one for less than 200$(sold the old one, in the end I spent like 30$)
DiMarzio even sent me the polepieces for 15$.

When replacing the hardware I just noticed one thing: the nut is not MIJ, the original chrome one is a little off the neck in the bass side and has nothing to do with the Gotoh.
The gold one I put in is MIJ Gotoh, so are the tuners, and of course, a Lo Pro(just love the thing).

Got a real dark rosewood fretboard, I've a bunch of lighter ones.

Set it up, put some .10s in and voilá, here she is:

I was a bit apprehensive after reading that you swapped to the gold hardware. Scrolling down to the pics has me thinking that thing looks AWESOME! Congrats on the purchase. SFG is my favorite guitar color but I'm a bit apprehensive to pick up a 70v due to it being Indonesian made.

Regarding the pole pieces, can anyone buy these? How did you contact DiMarzio to get them?

Make sure the Lo-Pro clears that pickguard. Although it may be just the picture, it looks like the trem is rubbing on the corners of the guard.

Jimmy

P.S.: The contrast of the gold and green looks cool, congrats!

Just emailed DiMarzio about it, they gave me a paypal reference, filled in my details and voila, a week later it was in Portugal.

About the quality, I mean, it has a slight finish flaw on the back, but that's it.
It's a great buy, try one.

Dont worry, it's clear, it's been there for 2 months now, no issues atm, I guess it's the angle of the picture.

The gold really looks nice. I did the same thing to my RG770FM. I really wish the 70V had scalloped frets like the MIJ JEMs do. It's interesting that the pickups are stamped DIMARZIO. You can't buy them like that. They only come factory installed.

I'll try to have it scalloped in a while, maybe after Steve signs it in December.

Killer - I'm not usually a fan of gold hardware, but on the green...wow.

Question - How's the clearance for "Up-pull" with the Lo Pro vs the Original bridge? I've got a vsbl w/lopro that barely pulls up a full step on the G, while the rest of my Jems pull up 4+.. I always wondered if it was the trem or the neck pocket depth.

Got as much clearence as with the Original Edge...
It could be your trem setup or your neck pocket, I have a small shim on mine..
