7DBK cased or not? - What comes "standard"with puchase?

My local dealer is giving me a price of $1050 for a new Jem 7DBK without case. *They say that no Ibanez comes with a case. *I wan't buying it initally, and after reading some posts I'm a bit confused.

Is a case an adder that can be quoted with the guitar? *Or is there such a thing as an "original case" that should come with the guitar. *It seems as though some of the higher end (collectable) Jem's value differs based on the presence or absence of the original case.

In general is this a good price without the case? *They said they *might* be able to include it. *Would this be a great price with a case? *

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie out!

I got my DBK with case for 1050, but that was right when the price was in transition from 1499 to 1599. I think you could wheel and deal with him on the case. Maybe if you could get 1100 for both it would be a nice deal.

It is standard procedure in the industry for manufacturers to leave cases out of the price when thay are manufactured outside of the US. *There are a few exceptions: *US made Ovations and Jacksons still charge extra for cases; Fender includes gig-bags with upper-level Mexican-made models; and Ibanez has included cases on special editions. * The dealer may include the case if they have the room to do it. *If they are a relatively small operation (1-3 stores) they may be paying a large amount for the guitar and selling cheaply to stay competitive. *If a dealer is going to throw in a case, they will have to have a margin between dealer cost and sell that is equal to or greater than the price of the case. *No one's gonna work for free. *There are certain manufacturers that don't vary the dealer cost based on the number of guitars bought in a certain timeframe-so it doesn't matter if you own one store or forty-all the dealers pay the same for the product. *Wel, I don't know if Ibanez does this or not. *Never asked. *Good luck. *It's a great guitar and that price is not bad, these days.
