7v pickguard
hey guys, i've recently made the tough decision of going with a 7vwh instead of a 77vbk, reason being basswood RGs are everywhere, im holding back and going for the more rational 7 in alder, as fanboy as that maybe seem...haven't ordered it yet though. 7s are so common though...
but...
anyway, any of you guys have swapped the pick guard out of the jem7v? aesthetics wise i feel it is one of the weak points of the guitar, makes it look cheap. any ideas?

Re: 7v pickguard
The only alternative I can imagine is plain white. The white JEM555 had one in its introduction year and it didn't look too bad i.m.o. You could try and create some mock ups with kisekae to try some alternatives (Gold? Mirror? Black?)

Re: 7v pickguard
I thought a while back i saw a picture of someones white JEM on vai.com. It had a golden pickguard with a rose etched into it. It looked amazing.
Since then iv looked for the picture and cannot find it.

hm i think i'd take pearloid over plain white, plain white would make it look like an RG 350 i think.. kisekae isn't very accurate imo..

Re: 7v pickguard
Try a clear guard.
I think that has some very interesting potential. If not that, then maybe Black or Gold Mirror to match that hardware.

hm yeah i was thinking a gold tinted mirror too...
but clear?
aren't jems front routed?
the clear pickguard would leave that gaping front route exposed, wouldn't it?

Re: 7v pickguard
the 7v and 77v are front routed, originally the 777 and 7 were front and the 77 were back routed, till the 77brmr appeared

Re: 7v pickguard
I love the pearloid pickguard, it goes with the flamboyant nature of the guitar, vine, gold, pearloid sparkle etc
I'd suggest you look for a guitar that you like the whole package on before dropping that kind of money on a guitar to change right from the word go!!! YMMV

Keep it stock, or, sand it down to natural and put a black pickguard on it... original bad horsie style

Re: 7v pickguard
My bad on suggesting that clear. I've been looking at too many pics of customs and DNAs lately.
