A little ripped off?

Not trying to start a firestorm of criticism or anything, but I look back at the old Ibanez catalogs and every year, there are all these different JEM models, with interesting finishes and features and lately, the only JEMs that come out are the Bad Horsie and the White model.

All of the older models command top level prices (sometimes three or four times that of a new model)....

That said, doesn't anybody feel a little ripped off that Ibanez is only issuing a couple models now, when there used to be all sorts of versions of Steve's classic axe?

Re: A little ripped off?

well over the years there were plenty..

And recently you got the VWH which will always be around as long as Steves playing them, the DBK, The Bad Horsie, DNA, etc.

Its not like they had all the Jems available at one time..

This is just the time these particular models.

If you really wanna' be bummed check out 1992 catalog. There were so many colorful choices..fact is I took it for granted back then...that there would always be more.Buying, selling and trading away Jem's/UV's at will, yes those were the days.

Re: A little ripped off?

There have been almost as many Jem colors as there have been threads of people complaining about lack of jem colors.

Maybe there could be a new forum here
"Complain about Ibanez color choices"
I'm sure it would fill up quickly.

Nothing will change until they actually_start_listening_to_us.

Yep, same here. That's why I should have been more careful with the rare guitars I have played to death and abused, such as road flare 550's.

Well, if it's just the era we're in, and some day, there will be different choices, then it is what it is. I just started thinking about it since Ibanez has a tendancy to release only one color choice for most of it's models (black), that this may be the trend that the company is going: no color choices for you!!! Less models, more colours. It's pretty obvious to me.

I doubt complaining here will do anything, unless Hoshino has spies searching these boards for topics being beaten to death.

Funny this should come up. I just moved and today was going through my very old pile of guitar magazines, ads etc. Found a 1992-1993 Ibanez catalog, what a pleasany surprise. It has the FP, BFP, GMC, DY, JS-1 through 6 as well as others.

I am throwing away the mags since you can get tab on the net now, but the catalog is staying with me. Some real eye candy in there, if I only knew then what I know now.

Dude you should keep all those just in case.

I wish that they would do a few more different finishes, but theydo have to make money after all is said and done. I just don't see the market for flourescents, maybe swirls could be popular again I am sure, but at what cost???

Also, unless Vai actually plays the things then they aren't going to sell alot of them.

Anyway we clamoured over the idea of a Bad Horsie model for years, perhaps you can't have your cake and eat it.

Re: A little ripped off?

Ibanez is not listening because this is not the audience they make money from.
