A real UVMC?? Help me out here...

What do you make of this? The guy selling it says it is a UVMC, and it does have the UV neck with pyramids. But a close look says the knobs and pup selector switch are in the wrong place. Anyone?? I don't get it, I mean, I understand why you would move the pickup selector, I always knock mine back to the bridge pup when I play hard, but the knobs don't appear to be lined up with the tremolo correctly either?? Which would mean if they were moved, that isnt the original swirl. Anyone got any advice?

Looks a bit like that photo has been doctored to me.

Maybe I am looking at it wrong, the white spot on the wrong side of the knobs looks like the pup selector to me, but I guess it could be the green dot on the proper side. Anyone see that? It is a crappy photo, but how does it look doctored? How can you tell?

If it is legit, it looks like an ATD swirl at that, if I was going to buy it though, I would definitely go there in person to do it, so not much point in lying about it.

I've never seen a real UVMC with that much black in it. It does look like it has two pickup selectors. Maybe somebody modified it for more switching options. My guess is that it is a custom build -- possibly swirled by ATD. You need better pictures.

The knobs are a different colour to the pickups and the body looks blurred compared to the rest of the surroundings. Might just be me but it looks "wrong".

Note also the light and shading, the body stands out too much compared to the rest of the pic.

Check this out, 5th & 6th pics down, twice as much black

http://www.jemsite.com/jem/model/uv77mc2.htm

From all the pics on this site alone, it looks real enough to me.

It looks like the B string kind of "disappears" halfway up the neck. The shadow from the neck is also uniform, even though the surface it is supposedly cast over is not. It's also weird how the logo on the speaker cab seems really shiny, reflecting something blue, but it's not reflecting any of the bright colors from the swirl.

Could just be a poor-quality picture making things look that way, though.

The guitar seems to stand out really awkwardly, but maybe its just the lighting. Note the white around the cutaways though - kinda looks like one of those cut n paste jobs, but who knows. Definetally check with the guy on the switch placement and for better photos.

Re: A real UVMC?? Help me out here...

I don't think that white thing on the opposite side of the knobs is a pickup selector, maybe a ding or clear loss like in this pic at ibanezrules.com:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/images/gallery/uvmc11.jpg

Anyway, the bottom left corner of the body looks alot like it was pasted infront of the amp.

To me it looks fine. The white spot to me looks just like it's part of the swirl. The pup selector is where is should be (green tip ). The knobs are where they should be. I'd still ask for more and better pics, but it looks right to me.
