Actually took the DNA to a gig!

Nice stuff Chris!

Also, a special mention must go out to Kev for his silent but effective link repairing ability.

hey dude, really nice guitar! *i have also played mine about 20 minutes since i got it last summer. *too nervous to play it. *i always take care of my stuff and keep it mint. *i'm just nervous. *like someone here said though, why keep a ferrari in the garage. *you guys really think it will go down in value? *not that i'm selling it, but i think it will go up again. *if anyone wants to check out my swirl, you can do so by visiting us at www.steverotter.com and clicking on the guitars link. *if you look at the photos, i have been asked this, and no, the guitar isn't resting on pavement. *it looks like it is but it isn't. *there is a cloth under it.

:innocent:

Luckily, mine is still 100% perfect. *I'm a VERY light picker, and found a static clear pickguard to use so that the guard doesn't get marked up. *It's called a "Klingon" and was distributed by Mel Bay, just in case anybody wants to try to find one. *I got mine a few years ago, and have used it on my JS10th as well. *Between that, and a soft, untucked shirt, the DNA is as fresh as it was the day I opened the box from Chesbro!

I baby my DNA as well. I've probably only played it for an hour total since getting it a year ago. Now I've got a UVMC to baby along with it. I know many feel that a guitar is made for playing, and I agree. But it is kinda nice having two mint swirls side by side. Besides, that's what my other six guitars are for. --rvj

I'm not a huge swirl fan, but that's a really sweet one. Very intense. And i love how there's a little slpotch of green right where the volume and tone knobs are. Very cool.

My DNA gets a lot of home use. It is my main recording guitar. Also took it out to a studio (first time in a real studio) two weeks ago. My main concern is having someone steal it. I'll never sell it, so minor dings and pick scratches don't matter.
As far as value goes, a fellow Jemsiter was offered about 20% more than he paid for his, in England, recently. They may not be blue chip investments, but I don't think they'll depreciate too much.

Because they are all unique anyway, if it did come to a sale, if your potential buyer liked your swirl he/she probably wouldn't be dissuaded from buying by just a few minor dings.

Good job on showing that puppy off! *Guitars aren't meant to be stuffed away in a closet somewhere. That's a beautiful instrument and I'll bet it felt great to stretch out onstage with it.

Actually...it felt GREAT to gig with it! *Got nothing but compliments on it-both for looks and sound. *I think I might take it to another gig Tuesday night-might even take the JS10th or one of the other swirls out too. *I've come to the conclusion that having a great looking & unigue guitar helps mask my intense lack of skill! *LOL

I find gain works well for that too LOL

Another perspective on "devaluing' gear.
I just sold a Power amp on Ebay. *2 years ago, i paid $599 for it. *I just sold it for $450. *I was a little bummed out about the price i got (thought i'd get more). *But i'm thinking of it this way:

I used that guitar a LOT in 2 years and only lost 25% of the value on it. *If i'd rented it for 2 years, it would have cost a lot more than that!

Just something to think about.
