Another first jem
Yup, picked up my 91 floral from the post office a couple days ago, she's beautiful beyond imagination. I figured a floral would be a good first jem and since I wanted one for so long I went for it. Once I had her restrung and set up the way I like it I proceeded to play for an untold number of hours. I've been playing my trusty RG550 for a while now and there sure is a big difference. The RG has a
maple fretboard
and has clearcoat on the neck, not to mention the wizard profile. I'm still kind of transitioning, the RG still feels more comfortable to me than the raw wood and fatter neck of the jem. I just threw a
Tone Zone
in the RG last night and...holy crap...that pickup smokes. The floral has Evo's in it and I'm debating on throwing a TZ in her too I like it so much. It has that wonderful brown sound whereas the Evos sound more grainy and distorted, but still nice. Actually I may keep it the way it is so I have some difference in sound. Oh yeah my RG550DY's name is Penelope, I've decided to name my floral Jocelyn...it just seems kind of fitting. Anyway, thought I'd share my joy

Re: Another first jem
Congrats
I love Florals. I have an 88 and a 91. FP's come stock with
PAF pros
...so if yours has EVO's in it someone switched them out.
ENJOY

Re: Another first jem
Yeah I knew they were switched out, I got it from Jimm (a.k.a. Vaibanez) and he said that right from the get go. I think I may keep it that way, I like the explosive Evo sound in contrast to the aggressive TZ sound. Actually I just got a crazy idea, I think I may put a sustainer in the RG and keep the TZ. Then I'll have two totally different animals that I love equally
. And yes...I shall enjoy my FP VERY much

Re: Another first jem
Yeah I think florals are the coolest looking, not that I wouldn't mind having a GMC or PMC or something, but for being one of the most common jems, florals sure do rock. Now to get my hands on a 10th...

Hehe not if I find someone selling one for around $1500 first!! As if that would ever happen...lol. If I had a chance to get one for that price...heck...I'd sell my car to get the money lol.

Re: Another first jem
I'd keep the Evos. If I was going to swap them out, I'd probably put PAF Pros in it from some variation
