another jem555 thread

i've been arguing with a guy about the material on the JEM 555's. I've searched the specs on several places and the infos aint the same, even in older threads opinions are different.

Can anybody with real knowledge shed some light ? I personally don't see a point in Ibanez using "american" basswood on a cheaper model. In my thoughts it's hard to imagine ibanez importing wood from US (thus raising the produtction cost of it), but maybe in korea they have "american basswood" :-D

Re: another jem555 thread

cheap american basswood is no different to cheap korean basswood. They can call it 'american' for whatever trivial reason they want, it doesnt necesarily mean its from america.

As I understand, American Basswood is lighter than yhr typical Basswood.

"American Basswood" (Tiliaceae or Tilia Americana) is the type of tree, which can be grown anywhere in the world with a similair climate to it's native habitat. It doesn't necessarily mean the wood was imported from America. Isn't marketing great?
