anyone made their own JEM body?

just curious as I'm still planning to build something and have seen a few JEM-look-a-likes that have been very close to the original body shape. Personally I don't know how they managed, but I'm guessing you could size up the blueprint that is here on jemsite, right? anyone know by how much it would have to be re-sized to make it natural size?

and here's a reflection for all you swirlers and collectors out there: since it seems popular to take a DY or SK body and swirl it, couldn't it be that in time the DY and SK will become very rare? what would happen if all the DY and SK JEMs were swirled? would the untouched ones become collectibles?

I would say near EXACT to the Ibanez original body shape.

Good question. I tried printing it out full size and of course the detailed one seems to be huge. I tried importing it into Photoshop and printing it out on many sheets of 11x17 paper and I just couldn't get it. My advice is to wander over http://www.projectguitar.com and I'm sure you can get some specs there.

Maybe some decade. Not anytime within the next 20 years or so.

If they were all swirled there would be no untouched ones left, therefore nothing to collect. So the answer is 'No'.

projectguitar had drawings. but they don't look right. a bit fishy. kinda like a jemified strat body... it seems shorter than it should be... maybe it's just the software I'm using (volo view express) though...

In fact, I think it ressembles the SK 7-string LGM has on his wall, except the lions-claw tells me it is a 6-string

I was referring to the home-made one-offs I've seen, not the professional work of some companies we all know of they all had some small thing differing them from a real JEM.

you know what I mean... if there was only one DY and one SK left in the world and I was the owner, I think I'd consider keeping them the way they were. then again, I'm weird about those things

I have access to large format printers, and I printed out the blueline from here, and it looks good.
So, I would suggest to put the file on a CD and take it to your nearest Kinko's and have them print it out for you...

Well, fact:

The RG, JEM, and UV, all share the EXACT same body shape. Only change is either grip, claw, pickup config, front/rear route, or the width of the neck pocket and other routes for the 7 string, otherwise, they are identical

Yeah, you got me eddie, they are all Jem based bodies (since mr Vai cleared up that the RG was indeed based on the JEM) Ibanez uses the same programs for all of them, and, if we're getting picky,
J-customs, prestige, need to be there as well, and I'm sure there are other models I'm forgetting, like the K7, but they are all Jem/RG based
