Re: Behold the Jemulator - Custom build your own JEM online

I'm a newbie and I've been browsing around the older stuff too, but don't wanna clog it up with stuff that's been done already...

As for fezz' initial question...check out V-RG here on the website, or google Kisekae JEM and there's all sorts of stuff like that...if the orig topic is what I'm thinking it was.

It's an old thread, 8 years actually.

"Seeing an old topic that interests them and wants to talk about it" != seeing a link from EIGHT years ago and necroing a thread just to say "link doesn't work". There's a difference.

Had he said "Hey guys, sorry to bring this one back from the dead, but could someone point me in the direction of a live link?", I wouldn't have taken the time to even respond.

IBTL?

It's neat but it's missing disappearring pyramid inlays & swirl paint jobs.

Re: Behold the Jemulator - Custom build your own JEM online

I think this kind of problem is relevant on just about every/any forum. I belong to a few others and have seen this happen from time to time. Someone will inevitably revive a super old thread. If I was running things(which I'm not, but if I was)I'd just bin old threads after a few years. No sense in keeping something on the books that's 8 years old. Just flush the thread after say 3 years, that way you don't have to worry about archiving this old stuff.

Obviously if it hasn't had a post in it for over 8 years it's time to retire the thread to the world of "deleted". I don't know, I've never cared for old threads that keep getting a jolt to keep them going. It's bad enough they are on life support and the someone comes along and jump starts it to life again.

Like a bad penny, old threads always turn up.

Re: Behold the Jemulator - Custom build your own JEM online

There's nothing wrong with old threads. Ideally, you'd want all discussion on a certain topic to remain in one thread. That thread can be 10 years old for all it matters. Its actually helpful because you can go back and read the thread to locate all the info that has been compiled.

Accomplishing that is quite a feat. The only forum I have ever seen that accomplished this was the official Star Wars forum, and boy were they aggressive about it. Constant locking of threads, deletion of threads and moving posts to other threads. The nature of the topic (Star Wars) meant that there were unholy gobs and gobs of discussion about all sorts of stuff by crazed Star Wars fans. If they didn't keep it that organized, the forum would have been garbage.

Again official Star Wars forum. In otherwords, people paid by a lucrative franchise to monitor boards full-time. You can't expect that everywhere.

+1. We're also missing the "gorilla grip". Can we get someone to make these changes?

I like Star Wars?

I know, hard to imagine that, seeing as I'm posting on a forum about guitars. Unlike most poster here, I also build my own computers, play video games, and I'm also interested in modern military aviation. I also work in the financial sector in customer service.

But I know all this is very hard for jemsiters to understand, seeing as how this site is their homepage and the only thing they know how to do is work 6 nights a week playing in seedy clubs inbetween drifting between menial day jobs.

Amirite? Hur hur. Amirite?
