Re: Blasphemy, I know- but a question anyways

You could just do what I did..
I'm left handed and I've spent 21yrs learning to play right handed
On second thoughts you could probably grow your own lefty UV in that time.

As much as i agree you should do what you want with your guitar and if you like the idea then go for it i have to say this makes no sence to me......simply have a custom built.......or a part custom as has already been sugested.

I agree that it's your guitar, do what you want.. BUT I think it's a bad idea. I wouldn't do that to any guitar. Especially a UV.

Re: Blasphemy, I know- but a question anyways

Isn't it a shame though guys that just because Mr Ninja is lefthand he cannot obtain ANY jem??

I think that is disgusting, true some of the RG prestige and stuff may have left handed 7 string variants but he wanted a top of the range UV so why can't Ibanez offer the hoards of LH players the option?

It is hardly rocket science to flip the horz/vert coords on a C&C machine!

I agree! Find someone with the CNC program for the UV body, and ask for a reverse. As mentioned before, modifying the edge isn't that hard. Remove guts from your Uni, and have a pickguard made. AND, I bet it would have more value on the used market than an "altered" righty body. Rich may have advise on the body source...

ask nicely for Brian at universal jems to do you a right-to-left trem conversion.

hey presto you have a left hand UV

Steve
You know that this is the best advice on the whole thread. I'd go one further and advise you to get an older UV with the square neck joint, as the AANJ neck contour will still suck arse on a righty neck if used as a lefty. The old square neck joint isn't a problem to play on, and seeing as it's square, the neck'll bwe the same reversed. Also, older UV's cost less. And the bodies are more usable as spare as necks crop up on the bay quite a lot.

And all apare parts you don't need can be sold on.

Besides all this, you'll be a jammy bastard with a reverse headstock UV.

Same here - the thing is with taking piano lessons and playing a trumpet I never even thought about getting a left handed guitar so.....
I keep telling people to dicourage kids/younger relatives from falling into the lefthanded instruments trap but it's just so easy.

The thing is dude - it's your guitar so do to it whatever you want.
Paul Clark had a custom lefty UV made for him

what's wrong with the PII? it is one of the most original and interesting designs you can find on a guitar. and it is FAR better looking that your slaughtered UV.

That's what I did, and what I suggest. I have to say that doing that to a UV, just to be able to play the upper frets, is just plain wrong. Atleast go Hendrix style on it. you wont be able to play as high up, but atleast it's mildly acceptable. Like I said on ss.org, If you must have the AANJ, then get a uv777bk, sell the body and guard (Get a decent chunk for that) and get a new body made, with a reversed neck pocket.

And fettouhi, remember, if you sell that lefty 7, I got first dibs!

DON'T DO IT! I'd learn to play right handed before sawing a UV.

You can ask Jeremy to do the trem coversion too since he did on mine.
