Buying Universe in London?

Hi all
I found out today that i got a 1500euro scholarship from my uni

so im considering a UV777PBK. There are no Ibanez dealers in my country and ordering one would cost about 3000$. So some friends in London might buy it for me and bring it when they come to Jordan.
My question is... whats the best place to buy one from? Customer support, price, and most importantly, setup and condition of guitar. I want a new guitar. no dings or scratches. Paying 1700euros for a dinged guitar would probably kill me. What do you suggest?

Yes i have. 1850$ for universe, 100-200$ for shipping to my country, and a lovely 540$ tax. If i had more money, i would spend all that for a well-setup guitar from a trusted seller, but unfortunately i can't

To be precise, $1740 for the guitar, Postal Fedex $266 to Jordon [$110 airmail to the UK], wire trasnfer fee $25, customs depends on how much you decide to have it declared and insured for

The only UV's i noticed in Denmark Street on a very recent visit were the UV777GR thats been there for a while with a pricetag of £1950 or a new UV for £1600. Turnkey on Charing Cross Road had one but i didn't see the price.

There was a UV777BK at Turnkey some 2 months ago I think...

Turnkey's online shop has it for £1173, not sure what they'll ask in store.
There's this German guy at Turnkey who will set it up for you quickly but if you want a proper setup check Andy's on Denmark street.
Also I can't recommend that german guy enough, the dude is uber stand up guy and will sort you out so make sure you ask for the german guy when you go upstairs.

Just came to me, your friend can order it from Rich at $1740+$110 shipping to London.
The VAT+Duty will be $416 but he can claim that back at the airport if he leaves the UK within 3 months of the purchase.
Then all he has to do is smuggle it into Jordan and you won't pay any taxes.
All it'll cost you is the $1740+$110 which is less than e1500.

Thats a great idea! definately better than buying from a store.
When i talk to my relatives i'll see if they can do this for me.

+1. In there the other day and played the yellow Washburn there. The setup RULES!!! If I go to uni at UCL or LSE in London I'm taking any guitars I have with me to them! Quite cheap too.
