Carbon Fiber Fetish!

I chanced upon this on Evilbay....

Item number 7344273425

I'm not promoting this auction or anything, please don't get me wrong.

Carbon Fiber finished 555, with LED'd fretboard.

I've got one hell of a carbon fiber fetish, I love it everywhere, on my watch, cigar case, car, desk, pen...you name it.

And now a jem!!!!!

Wonder how it sounds though LOL!

I'm in love.

Wow. That's pretty cool. Too bad it wasn't a 7-string.

Re: Carbon Fiber Fetish!

IT looks good as hell wish ibanez sold something like that seriously it does look great, hell vai might even like that idea, this particular job doesnt look that cool, but carbon fiber on a guitar like this could make the look. The overall look of this guitar is better than any 555 ive seen

Re: Carbon Fiber Fetish!

Looks cool !
but isn't it just that sheeting that you Iron/ hairdryer on ? The LEDs are a bigger job though , having to remove the finger board & route the neck etc. It just seems like a lot of money to me ?

Re: Carbon Fiber Fetish!

Thats the same guy thats been selling his customized jems no **** for awhile now if im correct here. hes had some really crazy looking guitars. Im willing to bet from his description that the neck has MAJOR issues. Why would anyone ever put that much work into an instrument to personalize it then sell the thing? Makes NO sense

Re: Carbon Fiber Fetish!

Actually, this is my guitar. I’m a bit surprised there is a topic here about it, but then this is the place. I did want to thank everyone for the compliments. I also wanted to clear up a few things.

This isn’t iron on CF paper. That’s a nice product, but this is the real deal carbon fiber.

This is the first axe I’ve ever sold, so pleeeaaase don’t hold someone else’s work against me. I posted my RG with lochness green like paint here, but I never sold it.

On the trem angle, I think this is just like Vai’s EVO. I think there is a reflection of the mirror like clearcoat that makes it look high.

On the neck, my description is accurate. I’m dissapointed that someone would claim that the neck is messed up and that’s why I’m selling it.

So, why am I selling it? First, I was inspired by the guy in the UK that did one with the iron on material. He got $1800 and I thought I could match the product. Its was sort of a challenge. I really like this axe, but I like all the customs I’ve done. I work with my dad on these. He is the expert in anything custom. I sort of did the guitar stuff and he did the paint. We have fun talking and making it happen.

Well, I intended to sell this one from the start, but had trouble letting go. Any who does custom work knows this feeling. Now I’m up to 14 or so axes (I really don’t know exactly). I bought a bad horsie and an american deluxe strat in a short period of time, I had to sell something to feel less crazy. Another buddy suggested doing two the same, so I could let go of one. I sort of followed that and started a black 7. Also, I wanted to start on an axe that isn’t as expensive, since so much time goes into these. How much room is there on a $1200+ jem 7? I think a lot more on a 555 that starts for much less.

So thats the story. This is the prototype. Here is the pic of the 7. I’ve learned that LEDs are a lot of work. The pulsating light machine was a lot of work too. The carbon can be done for about twice the cost of a paint job, and includes a clearcoat of everything, so I might stick with that. Tehre probably won’t be another just like this.

As far as the price, I figure if the guy in the UK got $1800 with a ton of bidding, I should get my starting bid. Any less and I’ll just hold on to it.

Chris
Steve's EVO uses EDGE trem.
Your 555 uses EdgePro II, dude.
A bunch of a diference in proper angle adjustment...
Anyway, i like the carbonfiberthing.
Good luck,
Tubarão.

Re: Carbon Fiber Fetish!

Looks very nice mate - you should be very proud

The only comment I would have about the price is that sometimes things go for more if the start bid is lower - ie, more people start bidding cos they hope they might get a bargain, then they find they don't want to lose it, and therefore end up bidding higher. With a high opening price, some might get put off and not bid in the first place.

Pulsating LED's are a nice touch aswell - bet they'd look great at a gig!

Wow. Very impressive custom job! I like the LEDs blinking with the playing idea. Very creative.

Thumbs up

Re: Carbon Fiber Fetish!

Well, at least it has an upgraded trem, and not the old lo-pro TRS. Look on the bright side, and I do bet that it will be a whole lot harder to ding that thing.
