Care of a maple fretboard
I have a JEM505 with maple fretboard.
What do I need to clean it? I can get dunlop fingerboard, dunlop lemon oil, ultraglide, fastfret, prs stuff and fender.
Thank you,
Mile

The best thing we've found is spit and a soft cotton cloth. Many products can harm the lacquer finish on your fretboard. Simple Green and lemon oil are both in that category. Stay away from any citrus based products.

He has a point, if you use them too often it may dry out the board. But once, used in moderation, won't really cause any damage......in my humble opinion

I use simple green on all of my rosewood boards with excellent results when I want/need a deep cleaning. Rich, among others, have reported simple green destroying the finish on maple boards in the past. Myself, I only have one maple board and I just got that. I don't have enough experience with them to suggest anything other than err'ing on the side of caution. I can faithfully report that spit works great..........just not right after drinking a glass of milk........LOL

Re: Care of a maple fretboard
Get a cheap electric toothbrush to clean it with Simple Green.
Then, apply a little lemon oil.
You can also use bore oil with great results.

Re: Care of a maple fretboard
Thank you all you guys.
I tested Dunlop fretboard conditioner 01 on my other guitars... It works great.
Playing is totally different. neck feels totally perfect.
Is it okay to apply guitar polish to the back of your neck (PRS)?
I applied it to my other guitars and it worked out great.
Thank you all
