Re: Cleaning My jem

When you're cleaning the neck, stay away from synthetic cleaners like Windex - it'll soak in and get all gross. I use Lemon Oil (as pure as you can find) and only in moderate amounts.

Re: Cleaning My jem

May be gross, but I've found nothing works better on the finished areas than a soft rag and a little spit.

Actually, Lemon Oil should not be used on the neck Chop! It's acidic and will get to the frets after a while. Use Bore Oil on the neck It works wonders and keeps the wood nice and moist. That's a necessity here in humidiy free Colorado. On the body, I just use a microfiber cloth and polish.

Really? I read that somewhere on this forum too, but didn't it say that as long as you didn't leave the lemon oil on to soak in and polished it right off immediately it was ok?

Re: Cleaning My jem

I wouldn't use the lemon oil at all. Even if you wipe it off right away, it's still getting into the wood / frets.

But then again, what would I know about cleaning Jems

Re: Cleaning My jem

What kind of fretboard are we talking about. If it is maple you may not want to use the oils.

Re: Cleaning My jem

I just use a dry non abrasive cloth, like the kind I use to clean my glasses.

PS, I've heard lighter fluid will clean the gunk right off maple.
