I have a feeling that if Ibanez doesn't acknowledge the cheating design whoever originally made it is going to try to sue Ibanez for using his art work lol

Re: Complain to Steve about the JEM/UV LINEUP here (no long winded rants elsewhere)
as has been said before aesthetic look of the JEM is pretty mundaine colour wise. Personally, IMHO, the standard lock shtock white geetar with gold hardware is pretty tacky looking.
Ultimate JEM for me has to be the DNA design or the PMCs.

Re: Complain to Steve about the JEM/UV LINEUP here (no long winded rants elsewhere)
I see there is a Universe UV77RE For $8.000... Obviously Ibanez wants to release about 100 guitars every so often for an incredibly outrageous price to make a few extra bucks.
There was a day that guitarists bought guitars to actually play them. Now it seems everybody wants a one off, limited collectors piece to keep under their bed or in a glass case, the unnamed main auction website is full of guitar auctions stating "limited model", "rare", "rare color" on regular production models, and these things are being inflated well above the original price only two or three years later without being limited editions, rather unpopular colors that were discontinued.
I sold a mint guitar though and unnamed dealer, then I was going to ask them to sell another. A 2007
custom shop
Les Paul
, the guitar was all beat up so the top was refinished. It's was one awesome guitar with a great soul!! They simply stated... Nahhh, we can't offload that, it's not original and it's all beat up... It's a 1997 model for crying out loud... All the 50's and 60's strats and gibbies have playing wear.. Why because people bought guitars to play them not to look at them...
It seems nobody wants to buy a used guitar unless it looks new... The original Jems have all been played, these new ones are soulless money makers for a nonsensical collectors market, flooded with overpriced guitars that will be forgotten over time. The original Jems and Universes are popular now because they didn't do so well in the early 90's due to grunge, and production was cut off... They've been played and there is history behind those guitars...
Yes I agree, the plain white and black guitars do not do the Jem/universe line justice. Nor do 100 copies of $8.000 guitars that will never see the lights of a stage!!! EVO is all beat up and the body is cracked and it's worth more than any JEM/Universe out there, especially to Vai himself because it's his favorite, it's his "partner" if you will. Give us some cool Jems and Uv's that players can afford, that will be used on stage. What's the point of selling guitars only one person can enjoy at home, guitars make music, music is supposed to be made to be performed. We need more Jems in the limelight again!! Flower guitars, strange swirly guitars, pink blue orange whatever...
I can't consider somebody who buys a guitar to keep it in a case a serious guitarist! I owned an original UV77MC, it was an awesome guitar, I got it used way back in the 90's for less than a grand... I'd love an original JEM77BFP or JEM77FP, but the price is getting ridiculous. I want something I can play... Give us a production guitar we all can enjoy Mr. Vai and Ibanez....

Beat up does not equal soulful
New and expensive does not equal soulless.
Whilst the colour options at the moment are limited black white and black/cream/red floral you have to remember that
Steve Vai
is now a man in his 50s. The original colour scheme comes from when he was in his mid 20s. I'd love to see a metallic orange JEM, or a red metalflake JEM or something, but that's not Steve and it is Steve signature model.
The other thing I think you have to remember is that these guitars are affordable to any serious guitarist (these aren't tinker toys that certain dealers would have the guitar buying public believe). Methinks you'd love the UV reissue if it came at a "production line" price. Fact is though, it's not a production line guitar, it's made in a leeetle custom shop by highly skilled luthiers.
It's good that you'd like to see some crazy new production line JEMs, we all would. But don't knock the special editions, just stay out of their way.

By beat up I mean worn in, played hard. No 10-20 year old guitar that has been played will be mint... And no new guitars don't have a soul, has nothing to do with expense. They just don't have that worn in vibe.... (cheap guitars fall apart wile expensive ones seem to mature)...
Unless you are unfamiliar with touring it doesn't quite make sense to a quote serious guitarist or real musician
to purchase an $8.000 piece to take on stage, night after night, on flights, moisture changes etc. It's going to get beat up...
Face it a 100 piece $8.000 run series is not going to be purchased by anybody other than a collector! Don't worry I'll leave it, it's just stupid to me since I actually play my guitars, on stage...

I glad you really don't know what you're talking about.
Sure, the majority will be bought by collectors that will play them sparingly, if at all. I sold one that will be regularly gigged, and setup 9 others to be players. Gigged, no, but played, absolutely. In fact only a couple of the ones I sold will remain case queens.
Any more speculations you'd like to try and pass as fact?

Seriously though, yes they will sell. And 100 pieces will go fast, people want them. I can just imagine people trying to get 12 grand for these in 10 years... argue all you want that's what's going on all over these days (if one or two people buy these to be played that doesn't mean they were the target audience). What shocks me is there are markets for guitars that are "limited" production models and some are over 10 grand...
but what annoys me is when people baby a
Gibson Les Paul
studio, or RG350 for years and try to offload it for $2,000 because it's a limited edition or rare color...
But obviously I don't know anything...

I bought a Fireman from Rich and I play it all the time. I don't treat my guitars as collector's items. I take care of them but I treat them the same and they all get used.

Evidently, that is correct.
I just listed 10 that I alone sold that would be played, and there you are claiming only 1 or 2 out of the 100 would be.......
