Well Mr Aimeederog is a bit of a thick fcukwit to have fallen for that. D'oh !!!!

Given the C prefix on the serial number does this suggest it was made by Cort? If so you would think Ibanez would stop them as Cort make many of Ibanez's MIK guitars

Unless you were being ironic...

I seriously doubt Cort made that. Whoever made it probably just stole the serial number format for authenticity, but stealing a Korean serial number makes it easier to spot the fake.

The string tree is wider than the neck

That's a bad one....by any standards

Re: Congrats to this new JEM owner.... Chibadibadoo

You have to wonder if theyre stupid enough to bid on it thinking it's real, are they really going to notice it's not when it turns up? Even if it plays like crap, I'm sure it'll be the best guitar ever in their own mind.

I don't understand why they'd put a Cort serial on the back. If they wanted to pass it off as a fake surely they'd put a Fujigen number on it.

They're just not trying anymore. And some people have more money than ability to do their research...

I dont think it has to do with research. People here eat, breathe and sleep Ibanez, the average schmuck probably doesnt even know there is a fake Jem market, and when the top question on the page says it's a fake and the seller (with good feedback) says it isnt, and the price is still fairly high, it's easy to see why people can be fooled. Not eveyone knows there is Jemsite to check the guitar on, they would maybe go to Ibanezs' site and see a guitar that to the untrained eye looks like a Jem.

Why would the average person who doesnt spend 17 hours a day on Jemsite have to worry about whether or not the guitar is fake?

I guess some people just aren't aware, but every time you search the word 'Ibanez' on 3bay, a guide to fake chinese knock-offs comes up on the left. The fact of the matter is, it's a significant purchace (to most people) and regardless of what the item is, you should really check up on what you're buying before you hand the money over, especially if you're not clued up on the thing youre buying. And ESPECIALLY if youre paying way less than what others are going for. That's something you should be aware of if you know about Jems or not.

It just amazes me some people can be so careless.

Well said. There's really no excuse. Whether or not you are an avid JEM collector, you should always research an item before you buy it, especially when you start talking $1000 and up.

That is NOT an Ibanez trem on that guitar... It actually looks like one of those trems that routinely sell for 60$ or less on the bay. I think I'm going to be ill.

Re: Congrats to this new JEM owner.... Chibadibadoo

You mean in that little area in the left that can easily be missed?

Again if you dont know much about gutiars, or that fakes even exist how would you know $1100 is way less then they are going for. Not to mention $1100 isnt that much less than a real one. Im sure they can be had used all day for $1400-$1500, so a $300-$400 difference wouldnt set off any red flags.
When I sold my Gibson Firebird on the bay it went for $1450, meanwhile I;ve seen others there sell for $1000, $1100, $950, does that mean the ones that didnt fetch as high a price as mine were all fake, or maybe no one was bidding on them that week?

Couple that with the seller (who's feedback is well over 36,000 positive) said it wasnt a fake.

Just for shts and grins I went to the bay and put in "IBANEZ JEM"
there "warning" about fake Jems was nowhere on the page
