Who remembers Shotgun Messiah when they were called Kingpin but had to change their name? I had that album about 2 years before it was renamed "Shotgun Messiah" and Harry K. Cody's guitar playing blew me away, especially on the track "Explorer".

A little off-topic, but just thought I'd mention it.

never really listened to Shotgun Messiah, just knew them by the name, but you can find that custom DY on the Ibanez: The Untold Story, it's a slightly reduced DY in size, VDY fretboard, custom pickguard and it's got comunist symbol (how you call it, sickle & hammer) right on the right arm's bout, in red. i'd like to post a pic from the Ibanez book but i don't know if i can, you know, rights issues? can i?

That is a funky pickguard, no lions claw, handle in the wrong place, this could well be the world's first chibanez. No, that's a cool axe, I remember seeing ads for SM and thought they looked pretty cool but never got the chance to hear them. And what a cool name for a band huh?
