Creating a Jem-Like Warmoth???

Hey folks. I've been considering ordering a Warmoth guitar...

Alder Soloist body
Maple neck
Ebony Fretboard (17" FB radius)
Recessed trem cavity w/ an Edge floyd
H-S-H pickup configuration... and then I'd buy a set of Evolutions after (because you can't get Dimarzios through Warmoth)

Plus a few other things that I probably forgot to mention.

How would the tone and playability be different from a JEM 7VWH? I know that it would be quite a lot cheaper, so it doesn't sound like a bad idea! ... No offense to the Jem purists, though... just an idea, like I said!

Thanks!

It should sound relatively similar. We get alot of Warmoth stuff at my shop, and in the last few years, it's been kinda cool. For awhile, they got kinda shaky with their quality. When you order it, make sure it's front-rounted like the 7V if that what you are after. They offer a alder body with h-s-h pickups routing, but with a rear-route like a non-pickguard RG has.
Other than that, you should be pretty close...

I would highly recommend using EKG instead of warmoth (his link can be found on the top of this page). I haven tworked with him personally, but have heard nothing but good things about his construction (cant say the saem for warmoth). Im sure you'll want to go to LGM (also up above) for inlays and finish... him I have worked with and am amazed at the results.

If you're goin with swirl, of course ATD is the only way to go....

The neat thing about EKG is that you can get the body style you want, monkey grip, lions claw front or rear routing and you can pick the wood that you want for the body. I've seen threads here about which woods work best with evo pick-ups, breed and paf's. I'll search a bit and see if I can find one for you. LGM as we have all seen does incredible inlay work meaning with all of this put together you can have a one of a kind to your taste or fashion it after your favorite hard to get JEM. Jeremy is doing a complete guitar for me right now off of an old RG body and neck I bought from the classified section..........pics of this project will be posted as he goes. Good luck!
