Poor guy got duped into a Chiba.
At least he's making the effort to put it to good use by posting those pics in hopes of saving someone else from disaster.

Awwww............. It's not that bad.

A new neck, body, electronics, and a bunch of hardware and this think can be a killer!!!!

Reminds me of an old joke:

Kid 1: How do I get my Mustang to beat a Camaro??
Kid 2: easy, get the radiator cap, and pull a Porsche under it!!

Not sure which way you're implying with this, but a 5 way selector clicks four times going from pos 1 to pos 5. Just as a 3 way would only click twice going from 1 to 3. The click occurring when you change position and whatnot. So a 4 way would click thrice, so that would be your instant fakeness test I assume. Although why they would make a mistake like that- when every 3 pickup guitar under the sun has a 5 way, and from what I can tell 4 way switches are only found on modded tele's- is beyond me.

Re: The current quality of Chibanez copies

out with the fake...

in with the genuine Dimarzio pick ups and Ibanez electronics, (thanks to Rich )

This is what the single coil pick up looks like up close

Check out the electrical tape on the Humbuckers SMH

The Dimarzio Pick ups use a cloth wrapping

Yes damn...it's terrible. Hopefully nobody will buy these fakes in the future. But unfortunally some will. Good with a thread like this were people can see how extremely bad things they build.

I would be interested in seeing someone cut one of those bodies in half to see what wood if any it is.

I think the long-lost LinuxPenguin posted body wood pics a few years ago...before he disappeared for good.

Oh--good to see you, Cosmic!!!

Re: The current quality of Chibanez copies

The wood seems to be something lightin color and relatively soft. I am not a wood expert, but it's solid, not plywood or MDF

Yes, 5-way switches have 5 positions, but only move 4 times.
