Too my knowledge Ibanez has only ever made one Acrylic bodied guitar, so where do they even ever get any recognition at all? Apart from from the multi layered swirling going on, there is absolutely nothing revolutionary about it.

Well, that doesn't say much about your knowledge Fender. Ibanez has made 3 acrylic guitars; 2 production, and 1 that was either a proto or a production model that looked like a dan armstrong copy back in the 60's or 70's (I have to look at the book to confirm). The 2 production guitars were the Crystal Planet and the Jem 20th (which you already knew).

My point was basically to prove that no one associates Ibanez with acrylic bodied guitars. I personally think BC Rich put their name on the acrylic when they released their AC series guitars. They only made several thousands of them. In fact, they are still being produced as we speak.

There is a guy in Detroit who makes Acrylic guitars in several shapes. You can get bodies or complete guitars.

losgatosrg350dx..... I sure don't think you'll find these as cheap as what you can get a body for from your guy though. But for anyone else interested.....

Heck, black Acetron 1 1/2" x 24" x 24" runs about $450 or more from what I see. So you're getting one heck of a deal depending on what the material is! Pics when you get it done though!

the price i have includes his two hors time and labor to put it on a manual mill and the cost of the acrylic

I always thought the Dan Armstrong was the 1st? Anyway I think B.C.Rich's are ugly as hell.

old thread is old...... BC rich has their place. I like the style of my schecter better, but my BC Rich has a place in my heart too, around where I live, you hardly see any for some reason. Seems most people here are Ibanez, Gibson, or PRS as far as I can tell.

From what I see it does look like a sweet guitar. The trem bars with the screw on (? Lock in place cap ?) kinda go against my habits? Just me but I like the pop in free hanging ones. I can grab it with my pinky and have control of it in a flash, like most who like them . I even bought 2 extra original complete edges just in case. Just another case of what makes us unique!!

There used to be this great link to www.mit.edu where you could build an acrylic guitar. If you sent them specs, they could build one, or more. It's not cheap though. I think you are proctored through a site and you can manipulate a 3-D rendering so you will basically know what you can get. I think a body will set you back over $500 dollars but it's a good testbed to get a mockup for a bigger production run.

The trem bothers me also..!

I don't think $500 is too bad for that service.
