Dating a Jem77FP **URGENT!!*

Hi guys, I need to date a Jem77FP urgently for sale, but have come across a strange problem. Here in sweden the serial numbers where often stamped on the back of the neck on a glue on emblem. That emblem is gone, there is no serial markings or year in neckslots or on neck heel.
That leaves the backplate. This one has the serial 904422 "Made in japan", which woudl make it a 1990 model I guess. Problem is, the guitar has a Lo-pro edge bridge, which to my knowledge was not released until 1991. Also the guitar is in almost mint condition all the way trough, so my gut tells me it should be more recent than -90 or even -91.

Can anyone help me out here? Pls??

Its a 1990... The fist two nmbers of the serial number are the year... like if it said 92 it would be from 1992... hope that helps

edit: sorry didnt read the whole thread..... i guess you knew that already.. guess i cant help you.. only thing i can ask is are you sure its a lo-pro (im sure you do just making sure) otherwise did someone mod it before you bought it? were you the orig. owner?

Well, I cant be sure that someone didnt change the bridge for a newer model, but that makes no sense, if the rest of the axe is in mint condition, the old bridge shouldnt need any changing...
However, I've been playing and seting up Ibanez, and lately also doing clinics for Ibanez in sweden, so I know my ibanez models, and bridges pretty well

But for this I am stumped

if the trem wasn't swapped it's not unusual that a leftover plate is used in a later model. it's irrelevant really... glen

Only thing i wonder is, how does that affect the valuing of the guitar?
Its impossible to date it now

Since the model's specifications remained consistent pretty much since its introduction, the value of one year of FP versus another year is pretty much a non-issue. Condition would be a greater indicator of value than year.

Yeah, ast any rate, I think it is safe to say that it is an early 90's model. That much seems clear. So I guess the value will be judged based on that fact, and the excellent condition. I guessed as much, and I also think that this is as close to the actual truth I will come with this guitar.

hmm, i'd suggest going slow .. just a dinner type thing to begin with, ya know? don't come on too strong. keep your wang bar to yourself and all.
