Re: dna swirls

It might be worth doing a search as there are numerous topics that cover this in detail.

Lol I guess you could chase poor SSV around the room with a fork or something but Im pretty sure some jail time might be involved after that.

Re: dna swirls

The guitar is sealed and primed, and then inserted into a tank of water. The paint is poured on top of the water (I assume it's oil based, it floats) and then the guitar is pulled out of the water through the paint on the surface, which sticks to the body.

Actually, the paint is put on the water surface before inserting the body on it

Re: dna swirls

It would be awesome to learn how to swirl!

I would probably swirl everything, the couch, the TV, the kitchen sink, hub caps, etc...

Re: dna swirls

Just be carefull which paints ya use. I used regular oil based paint on my first swirl job, under the pretense oil floats on water...........it works, but the paint came out really thick in areas, which led to some drips & runs, and of course, left the over all finish kinda textured........you could feel some of the swirls. I recieved alot of excellent advice from here from people who do alot of awesome swirl jobs..........
Just experiment alot first with scrap wood to get the technique down. But once you get it.........its frickin fun. I swirled all kinds of things with the left over paint...............of course.............the family cat didnt think to highly of it! Little sucker looks pretty cool though!

Laterz.......................~Ranz~
