I think it's a guitar. Far from everybody knows it's a signature, so I don't think it's bad.

It's just a guitar, whether it's associated with someone or not doesn't matter to me personally.

My main guitar is a Jem and my amp is a JSX. Admittedly Satch and Vai are my 2 biggest influences, but I bought the gear because the guitar's awesome (obviously!) and the JSX gets fantastic reviews.

If you live your live worrying about what others think, you're not living your life.

Moral: if you like it and it doesn't hurt anyone else, just do it mahn.

People seem to forget that a Les Paul is a signature model.

my friend has the exact same gear as you.

I agree, a guitar is a guitar, if it looks and feels good, then there is no problem playing a signature model. Like somebody has mentioned, most people don't even know it's a signature.

Kid's got a point.

Hell, if it feels good, use it.

Yo!

I can't deny there's a factor (especially under the guitarists in the audience) when playing live that those who recognize a good axe obviously would be expecting some decent guitarwork. I know, however, ppl who play professionally at weddings, etc carrying amazing axes to play ridiculous comercial crap with very limited chops.

I can't deny that I find a Jem or UV or a PRS and all that wasted on that kinda guys.

Regards,

D.

Re: do you think playing a sig guitar on stage is bad

Some sig models are much more "recognizable" than others, so with that, comes varrying levels of "responsiblity" on the players part. For example, if you go out on stage with a Charvel EVH Series, you better bring the goods; hammering out the latest from Green Day or Charlotte's Web (or whatever they're called) will NOT do. However, if you're playing with a Clapton signature (which looks very close to a million other strats), the expectations won't be nearly as high.

I personally love guitars in general and would love to own every signature model out there. Now, whether I'd play them all out in front of a crowd, well, my skills aren't quite up to that challenge!

All that said, if you find a guitar you like and you want it, get it!

It never matters what a guitar looks like. All the matters is the music you make with it.

It ain't a fashion show, it's rock and roll!!!

Cool

Re: do you think playing a sig guitar on stage is bad

I could care less what a guitarist on stage was playing with. He could be playing with a guitar made from a toilet seat and as long as he rips up the fret board I could care less
