Does the 1570 come with a pickguard???? Correct me if I'm wrong but, I thought the pups were mounted directly onto the body. If that's the case, why put a clear pickguard??? Makes no sense to moi......

I got mine from Ibanez. the pickguard is a VWH pickguard. It's was $ 78.00

I almost fell over, lol. $ 78 for a piece of plastic?? But the VWH pickguard also has a foil type backing on it (not sure why?) Tonal difference??

The truss and back plates are between $ 4.00 and $ 10.00 a piece depending. Much more reasonable Again, these are straight from Ibanez and you can probably find a copy cheaper, but I wanted the real deal

its a Ground, Shielding foil eliminates virtually all unwanted interference and hum.

Oh thanks Richie I figured it was something like that, but the original plate on my vsbl had no backing and neither do any of the other Jem, or other guitar plates that I've seen, so it made me wonder.

Yea, Its not on all the Jems and not sure when it started on the VWH, I have seen it more on Fender. I think the older Jems they just use a sheilding paint in th cavity. Not sure though

Oh, and I think SIMs has a clear pickguard, check out his guitar parts on the web site.
