Dream Situation

Ok here is the deal: Your band just hit it big and the producer gives you each $10,000 for equipment. You get one guitar, one amp, one effects unit (or 5 single effects), a set of strings, and a pack of picks. You can mod the guitar anyway you want just as long as the price stays under $10,000. You can also choose any of the guitars people have had custom made for them. WHAT DO YOU DO?!?!?!?

Have fun!

hmm, i have a jem but... i would buy a jem10th with mode four head and two 4x12" marshall cabins. a crybaby 535q, a digitech whammy, a boss dd3 would be all I'd go for or maybe a deluxe sunburst strat with mode four again. then i'd play the hell out of it

Aaaaaahhhhhhh, yes.

I'd keep it nice and heavy. Chrome JEM (it'd better come out! Knock on wood), sustainer, EMG 81 in the bridge, SA, EMG Afterburner. Amps: Bogner stack. And for effects, um, prolly a Boss GE-7, DS-1, CE-2, DD-5, and a Bad Horsie 2! What about cables? All Monster Rock cables.

Oh, and if the chrome JEM doesn't count, I'd have a JEMified Mahogany PRS 24 Custom trem model. White, ebony fretboard, abalone bird inlays, gold hardware. For the pups, it would have an EMG 81 in bridge and 85 in the neck. And it would have a LSR nut with locking tuners! Yum! Tasty sounding guitar! Either one tuned down to C Standard with 11's

Hmmmmm....

Guitars:
JS10 or JS2 - I'd install Seymour Duncans Pearly Gates on this one
JS1000
JS1200
Fender Stratocaster - The one I currently have
Amp: Marshall 6100 Head
Effects: BOSS DS-1, BOSS DD-3, BOSS CH-1, Digitech Whammy, Dunlop Crybaby 535q (And a few others...but these are the main ones)

Yes, I'm a sucker for Satriani's sound. Specially in the Live In San Francisco DVD

Guitar - Heavily customised RG550, dimarzio tone zone + air norton (no middle pickup), it'd be a natural wood colour, and would have LED's and lazers and stuff in it.

Amp - ENGL Savage SE, 2 sets of ENGL 4x12's with V30's in them probably

Effects - Digitech Whammy, Crybaby 535q, Boss gigadelay, Boss chorus pedal, probably an Octave pedal of some-sort too.

Then i'd have loads of cash left over for women

RG with tension free neck, abalone vine inlay, 6100 frets, scallop 21-24, Alder body with 5A stained red. Lo Pro edge bridge in gold, Dimarzio Tone Zone/PAF Pro, Tremol-no AND backstop, schaller strap locks, strung with D'Addario .009s.

Mesa Triple Rectifier, Matching 4 x 12 cabs

Morley Bad Horsie/Bad Horsie 2 wah/Little Alligator,16 band EQ

Conklin 8 string w/ fanned frets, peizo, and the most beautiful woods ever. But nothing crazy like "melted fingerboards."
And for an amp I would be a Bogner Ecstacy halfstack.
That would make me happy!

Jem7vwh painted a really cool shimmering green & a floral jem with the aanj
two legacy half stacks with one JS head inbetween them
g-force
rack of wham whammy pedal
ds-1 ultra mod
midi controller for g-force, whammy & anything else possibly controllable
a ****load of dunlop & ibanez picks
an even bigger ****load of superslinky's
thomas nordegg to maintain it all
Vai & Satriani's phone numbers on my speed dial
that'd about do it for me
hopefully have enough money left for a sixpack

*deep breath* here we go

Custom Jem with Alder Body and Ebony fretboard, stainless steel frets, Double Edge with 2nd input jack. Off set dot inlays on the fretboard (like 90HAM) Vine carved through the aluminum mirror pickguard (the guitar will be rear routed). Maroon cloth (like 77FP) finish with matching headstock. the vine carvin on the pickguard will allow parts of the body's color to show through, making it look like red vine on the guard. Paf Pros in the bridge, a Hot rail in the neck along with sustainer. Headstock will have mother of pearl vine inlays (this same inlay will be near the monkey grip also). And finally, Steinberger gearless tuning machines to give it a nice n clean look.

I'll be playing through two Laney Plexi heads each into a 4x12 slant cab loaded with green backs

effects...a nice rack compressor (haven't done enough shopping to name one), DS-1 and probably a rack tube distortion/overdrive unit, g-force, a Morley Classic Wah, Digitech Whammy, and stereo volume pedel. The acoustic processor will be similar with a rocktron tsunami chorus somewhere and oy i don't feel like naming them all. My pedal board will be pretty clean...just gonna be a DS-1, wah, volume, whammy, and a controler.

i probably went totally over the budget....

Custom RG-7 and RG-6, Line6 Vetta II stack (running in stereo of course), Digitech Whammy

or:

Custom RG-7 and RG-6, Mesa Boogie Road King or Diezel VH-4, G-force, Whammy, Crybaby rackmount

I may change the RG choice to a Leviiathan and Leviathan though

5) Black radiation symbol inlays
6) Top 12 frets scalloped

BODY:
1) Black hardware
2) Edge Pro trem with Tremel-No
3) My custom yellow and black radiation symbol paint job (you know what I mean, don't ya Jeremy? he he he)
4) DiMarzio Evolution in the Bridge - no neck PUP
5) One volume pot (Jem placement + half inch down + half inch back)
6) No tone knob
7) Slanted cable jack
8] Heavy duty toggle kill switch
9) Buried (mounted inside the body) sustaniac driver
10) Alder/Basswood laminate body
11) AANJ

Then there's the "Cheeze Machine II LTD":

Same accoutrements with 7 strings, blue shark tooth inlays, chrome hardware and blue ghosted hot-rod flames with metal flake accents.

Amp:
1) A pair of Line-6 HD147 stacks

1) Digitech Whammy 4 (WH1 reissue)
2) Bad Horsey II

Ahhhhhhhh, I can dream can't I?

LAG Stephen Forte guitar
Engl Savage SE Head with 2 Mesa Boogie 3/4 back 2X12 cabs
Eventide Eclipse efx
DR string set
Clayton Ultem .094 picks

This'll leave me about $2,500 in cash to go to Japan for a weekend and hit up the music stores for some score books, cd's and a Caparison Horus
