Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
Yes. They came out on the very earliest ones and then Ibanez got sued by someone who had patented the idea beforehand so they had to stop. So only the earliest ones have it. I have seen it on LNGs, SKs, and RBs.

I still have mine from my SK. (Wish I still had the guitar to go with it.)

Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
Does the handrest make a big difference in price compared to an SK in the same condition but without the Handrest.

Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
Well, it is kind of tied to the fact that the handrests were only on the very earliest models. So if it has one, it was a first year, making it more valuable anyway. I would pay more for a guitar with one also just because of the rarity. Gotta admit they were pretty darn cool.

Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
Gotta be a DNA. I was hoping to compile the entire '
Darren collection
' with a DNA and a UVMC, but the way the prices went crazy I am afraid I may have to give up the GMC to get them. I play the GMC the least, the PMC is an absolute monster, and I fell in love when I played a DNA. Love the neck, and love the Breeds. Gotta have it.

DNA, pure stunning guitar. I got my hands on one 3 years back, it belonged to a friend of mine in the US, them breeds sound unreal in the DNA, must be down to Steve's blood!

Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
I'm on the quest for a LNG, but I ain't seen one for sale in the UK for ages, there was one in a magazine a few months back in Mint condition selling £1300($2550) but I never had the money at the time.

Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
Holy cow that would have been a great deal. I absolutely love mine, and it is amazing how much different the color looks in person. Yeah, the DNA was something else. The breeds almost sounded likr there was a built in compressor. Amazing seperation, amazing tone. Sadly, I was playing Wolfgang's (WMerkert) so I am now forever spoiled, it's the absolute nicest one I have ever seen, the ultimate swirl!

Re: Early JEM models with Handrest
The company who had patented the idea never took them to maket? I have never see them other then on a JEM.
