Ebony JEM7V VS. Rosewood JEM7V f'boards

Hi,
Can someone post pics of each fingerboard (rosewood and ebony)? I'm curious to exactly _how_ different they look.
Also, does anyone know _why_ IBZ/Vai decided to have the JEM f'board in Rosewood instead of Ebony (in '96, I think)?
If you've played both, which do you prefer, in feel?

I prefer Ebony on anything usually, I don't have any pics of the Rosewood and this site has pics of the Ebony http://www.jemsite.com/jem/model/jem7vwh.htm

i think it was 2004 when they changed over from ebony to rosewood.. on the 7vwh that is .. i'm sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong..

Yeah it was 04. I prefer the Ebony myself (and have one) but the Prestige necks are SOOO nice!! I'd take the new neck with the Ebony if there was a choice

Mario, do a search. I think the only reason people didn't respond is because this issue has been beat to death

i dont touch the fretboard while playing the feeling means nothing for me...and i cant hear the sound of a fretboard.(maybe others..but i don't)
different guitars sounds different,i have not 2 guitars who are the same exept the fretboard..i think most people go for the looks.

idk how you don't touch the fretboard cause my action is so low I have to touch it to be able to press it and I play with really light touch. Also I can hear a small difference in sound but like it is more of the harmonics I can tell. Also I like the look way better especially on the white of the guitar

I don't feel it but I can most definetly hear it. Just try a clean sound...

Its a tough choice. The ebony looks better with the white finish, and I like the extra snap there is in the attack, but the neck design and finish on the rosewood models is definitely nicer
