Edge pop out

On my Jem, when I am changing my strings sometimes when tightening the string lock into place at the bridge with an allan key it puts to much pressure on the bridge and the whole things pops out... but on my RG550 with the same kind of original edge, it does not budge or have this problem at all. Whats going on with this? Can it be fixed?

You buy that JEM from me? The studs are lubed, if you don't block the bridge at a very positive angle, it will pop off the studs. Lube the 550 and it'll do the same.

mmm ok, no I lubed them myself, the 550 is lubed too. I will try and find this angle. thanks

Its because on the RG550 has a large neck pocket shim so bridge has to be raised pretty high, making the springs pop out during a whammy pull because the trem is to far up.

What is the ideal position for the bridge? Where should the little rectangular block at the side of the knife edges be compared to the body? level with it? above or below it?
