Edge Pro II bridge?
Hello,
I'm searching for a new Ibanez guitar, but I don't know, what to buy.
At first I wanted to buy a Jem 555, but after reading many opinions on that guitar, I become sceptic. Is the Edge Pro 2 bridge really so bad?
Can someone help me, please?

Re: Edge Pro II bridge?
I had a RGT42FMDR with a EPII. I actually liked it more than the EP on my 15th Anniv. Floral Jem. It sure did stay in tune a lot better. Just stay away from 555's with the Lo-TRSII and you'll be fine.

Yes the new Jem555 has an Edge Pro 2, but all the models before 2003 had a Lo-Trs2 trem which is poo(er).

Yeah the Lo-TRS was bad (but then again, my friend had one in his JS100 and when I set it up, it was actually pretty decent!). The Edge Pro 2 is a pretty large improvement over that though.

Re: Edge Pro II bridge?
So what do you guys think of this new JEM555? I was checking it out on one of the websites (The UK Ibanez website, I believe) and it's stats seemed comparable to a JEM, except it had an Edge Pro II/Wizard II neck. Since it's not a presige model, I assume it's made in Korea but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's low quality. I mean, my RG370DX is freakin' awesome. My
Edge III trem
stays in tune so damn well for some reason....I'm very pleased with it. But for comparative purposes, does anyone know how much these new JEM555's are selling for (in US currency, please)?

Re: Edge Pro II bridge?
EP2 is still not nearly as good as EP, edge or LP trems for sure. The EVOs are also korean made, I don't really know exactly how much difference there is in that but just a fact. The EP2 will stay in tune if setup correctly, but the feel is definately not as good. It's not a bad player guitar, they go for about $800~1100 retail in the US if you can find one.
Also I'm not sure, but I felt the JEM555 had a thinner wizard-like neck and not the JEM
prestige necks
.

Re: Edge Pro II bridge?
It's a good guitar, not a bad player at all. But if you were to spend $1000+ on a new one you might as well find a 7VWH used.
