Egde Pro on JEM-555WH

Hello,

for my Ibanez JEM-555WH (2006)
is it possible to install a vibrato EDGE PRO on my guitar ?

because my vibrato EDGE PRO II is 'tired'
the ARM is too Floating

i had a 555 for 11 years.spent most of that time tuning in (lo-trs11).i swapped it for a line6 flextone amp ahhhh best thing i ever did.

an OFR is a direct swap..youre better off with that cause you have to route wood for an edge pro

isaac is correct. I have done this mod but if you are not really good with routing, I recommend you do not attempt it. If you want to details, shoot me an email.

LoTRS I/II: most famously known to be replaced with the Original Floyd Rose or Gotoh FR. If you are replacing the studs, you will need to drill your guitar to accomodate the new bigger studs.

Edge Pro II: swaps with the Edge Pro. The locking stud mod is also recommended.

Edge III: swaps with the Original Floyd Rose. Stud rule applies, OFR studs are bigger. Additionally, there is a variation in Edge III routes that prevent the easy swap in some series.

Not correct i have a 555 with OFR No probs just insert it no routing or changeing Studs... Will fit right in...Stayed in tune for 6 month now and still are.

Yeah i have the same as van Halen had.

It was on a 80's kramer the OFR is Made in Germany.

Mrvai said you have to route the swap to OFR on a 555 And i said for OFR you can put i right in... Thats it.

i bought a lo pro edge on evilbay and it fit right in my jem 555bk from 1996. Holds tune just fine...

Here is my 555. changed the trs for an edge tremolo. now i call it JEM557

well here it fits normally without mods.. i heard that we have to change the studs and remake the stud holes.. but i gently put the edgre on the trs studs and the thing worked.. the tremolo dont touch the wood and the screws fit in tremolo cavity.. that peculiar "slap the whammy bar" effect, so good in the edge tremolos are not so efective.. im considering change the studs too.. but the guitar is working on tune.. perfectly..

Wrong.

The swap to an Edge Pro is the most logical one if the guitar is equipped with an Edge Pro II. The swap is doable because both trems are similar in dimensions and the route is the same.
