Re: et guitars

I have bought from ET Guitars, my guitar is featured on a thread here somewhere, and pictured on the et website. Ernie is a Grade A guy, and wont sell until he and you are both happy. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Re: et guitars

I was in contact with Ernie a while back, he's a REALLY chill dude, and if I have the money in the future I'm DEFINITELY doing something with him, I'd rather have one of his creations than a JEM personally, as it's more customizable. Plus the work he does is top notch, it's hard to beat. If you really want to then I suggest him all the way, I feel he's always overlooked and underrated.

In fact I think I'm going to e-mail him tomorrow to get a quote for an idea I had the other day...

Re: et guitars

I agree, I'd rather have a custom (especially mine ) over a JEM, anyday!

He quoted me $40 for my neck, but I imagine it would be more for a whole guitar.

Cool

Re: et guitars

Ibanez JEM v.s Custom JEM

which one has the better resale value?

i know it depends on the customization,

but wouldn't you rather have the original ones thats built by the professional craftsmen with their proven technique backed by their manufacturer warranty?

i ask that question because im wondering to sell my 01 VWH to fund a custom.

i know the old saying...

"if you're buying a guitar for its resale, then you're not buying the guitar for yourself, your buying it for the next guy"

but i couldn't help to wonder...

I would rather have one built for me, rather than for the general public.

Re: et guitars

Yeah, the "proven technique and warranty" means nothing to me. I've seen plenty of flawed JEMs and high-end RGs.

The builder I work with is more of a friend to me after these two projects than an "employee" or whatever you wanna call it, and he will always work harder than Ibanez or any other company to make sure I'm super satisfied with everything. The other day he took a ten hour trip to HAND DELIVER my new custom guitar. If i ever have a problem, I can call him up directly and deal directly with the person who built the guitar, rather than calling Ibanez and having to go through an automated menu to finally get to a human being, who's likely a paid customer service rep and nothing more. The resale value thing IS a valid point, but I don't buy guitars to resell them, I buy them to play them. And all in all, the whole point of a custom guitar is to build the best possible guitar you can for YOURSELF. Ever since I got my two customs I've never wanted a single factory guitar I've ever seen, and I will never sell them as long as I live. I've been offered more than double what I paid and I always turn em down, cuz once you get YOUR guitar there is no substitute and the "resale price" becomes "priceless".
