EVH D-Tuna on a jem?
is it possable to put a EVH D-Tuna on a jem trem? im looking to build a jem with legacy one and am wondering if it will fit. any ideas? (i know i need to use a tremsetter to keep it from going out of tune on floting trem guitars)

No, it wont work with low profile trems.

Re: EVH D-Tuna on a jem?
Jems come with 3 different types of tremolos on them.
1987 to 1990 they came with Edge tremolos.
1991 to 2002 they came with Lo Pro tremolos.
since 2003 they come equipped with
Edge Pro tremolo
.
The d-tuna will only work on the old Edge trems as the
string lock
screws on all low profile trems does not go under the fine tuners.
They are still available to buy new so just make sure you ask specifically for an Edge trem.

Re: EVH D-Tuna on a jem?
Not really, they are all solid.
In fact most people prefer the older versions but the Lo Pro (Low Profile Edge) and the new Edge Pro are more ergonomic and are much more comfortable for
palm muting
and resting your picking hand on them.
A lot of people swear by the old
Edge trems
though.
Satch himself has all his guitars equipped with Edge trems and Steve Vai's No1 guitar "Evo" has an Edge on it as well.

Re: EVH D-Tuna on a jem?
Hey guys, I think you're missing the point about the D-Tuna. I have one on my Wolfie and it works OK, I guess.
But it won't work on a floating bridge. Remember that the Wolfie is NOT a floating bridge (apparanetly, Ed doesn't like them).
If it were installed on a floating briodge, as soon as you engaged it, the whole guitar would be out of tune.

Re: EVH D-Tuna on a jem?
the reason the dtuna goes out of tune on a floting bridge is that when the pitch changes on the low E the position of the trem changes slightly nocking all other strings out of tune. the
hipshot tremsetter
keeps that from happening. the website for dtuna says to use this part if your planing on using a full floating bridge.

You need to put in a block that removes the pull-up ability (only dive will be possible). That means similar to a flust-mounted trem as on EBMM and Wolfgang guitars.

The very first post/question mentions that so I don't think anyone missed any points.
