Evo is back - And those other Vai machines

Went to see Steve tonight... I'm still deaf, tired and all but anyway.
Evo is again his main axe. She's got a new neck, though.
It's a maple neck, with a bubinga stripe. Rosewood fingerboard, with tree of life in blue pearl, and a white headstok. Still got black hardware all over it, tho.

Guess what, he threw Evo to Thomas after one song.......
I guess he doesn't learn...

That chrome Jem is a nice little gizmo.
It's basicly a black (10th) body with binding, a thing chrome coat (I'm pretty sure it's a sheet of metal of some sort), mirrored pickguard. Nice neck, again rosewood, tree of life and black headstok. It's got a sustainer.

Nice touch: He played it with his feet. They had a big spot on the other side of the venue pointed at the Jem, and with that he shined to all the people on the front row. Nice....

Then we had flo, which has a new neck (not a 555 neck).
But that's for a while now, I think.

And there was Flo II (I think that's wat it said. Defenitly not Evo II or Pogo), who had a production 555 neck complete with 'steve vai' inlay.

I didn't see the blue Jem tonight, but it was a rather short gig.
(Night of the guitar, with Eric Sardinas, Steve Luthaker and some other local stuff)

But it was nice to see Evo agian. That one has spirit to it..

Cool update! Tthe man is completely into rosewood necks now! Hey, and he's using a stock 555 neck, too.

Evo is back

Does EVO always sported a black Edge instead of a gold Lo-Pro? I didn't know it.
I liked Dave Weiner's babe too, very much.

Evo is back

Now I'm sure you guys have been talking about EVO's replacement, also named EVO. It's built from the ground up with the sustainer mod and is a new guitar, though I'm sure it's collected a few beauty marks in the last 8 months. EVO II is also new. EVO (as we know him) actually had a chrome edge on it for the last few tours. His new guitars all had rosewood necks (and he has 5 spare rosewood necks now) and cosmo hardware.

Evo is back

Rich,
This was the original Evo. No sustainer, one white and one chrome knob, signature on the back. And a lot of paint missing. Yellowed pickguard. black Lock Top, black tuners on that new neck.
I have no doubt at all that this was the one and only.
It could have been a chrome edge, I'm not sure about that.

We were not allowed to make photo's, so....
But I was standing below Thomas N. 's workplace, I head a good view of the gear.

Does that smell?

Remeber that jam session steve did with Joe Satch for Epic Records Webcast? It's recorded just a couple of months ago.
Go see that, you'll see Evo and Flo. I think those are the most recent images of the two axes. Evo with the black headstock neck, tho.
Good night..
