Excessive wear of flat blade?
My Jem7dbk has really bad wear of the flat blade. It's 2 years old and the blades are a different color than my 2 UVs which are both over 10 years old and fine. A PWH and a 777GR. Help! It is set up totally neutral.

The blades in my UVs are black, the Jem blades are chrome or silverish.

Ok, so do you recommend filing them or should I just buy a new plate with new blades and some new studs?

All you've said is one is silver [it's supposed to be, it's CHROME] and one is black [it's supposed to be, it's not chromed].

I said in the first post that the flat blade in my Jem had excessive wear. It looks like it's burred. I had a spare bridge that I bought for parts years ago and swapped the whole thing out and put the new studs in and the guitar is fine now. It's cosmo black though so I'd like to repair the original and put it back on the guitar. I guess I'll need some new posts. If the blade is that messed up the post must be ratty too. Suggestions? Does anyone press new blades into base plates or do I have to buy a new one?

Sorry, nothing about a burr here. You can file it out, new studs if you want, but the studs are much harder than the knifes are.

Sorry that I wasn't clear. Can a new plate with new blades be bought? Or new blades pressed into the old one? The rest of the bridge is like new.

It would require more skill to replace the knives than it will to file it correctly.

I know that you sell parts, do you also do repairs? I really don't have the tools or know how to start filing the blades.

I do some ship in work, but the shipping just makes it more expensive and not usually the best alternative.

I'm in Staten Island so shipping would be negligable. I have no problem sending you the bridge if you are willing to fix it. Let me know. I can order some parts at the same time.

Priority mail doesn't care how far you are, it'll still be $8 each way to send a trem insured.
