F01110762 serial number. Does this mean ....

My Jem has F01110762 as its serial number. Does this mean it is a 2001 model. Also this site says some models say - Japan under the serial (mine) and some says other things like 'made in Japan'.

Is there a difference?
and is it 2001?

It's a 2001, yes. Not sure about the "Japan" thing.

My '98 VWH says "Japan" under the serial number and "Made in Japan" on the tuners.

Doesn't the "F" denote that it was made in Japan?

Yep it does. On my BSB under the serial is "made in japan"

The F stands for Fugijen factory in Japan.

I don't think you can tell the date. All you can figure is your guitar was the 110,762nd made that year ;-)

Ok:

-the first two digits tell you the year. "01..." means 2001

-the rest tell you which number out of all of that model of guitar from that year yours is.

-does it really matter if it says "Japan" or "Made in Japan"? It's real if that's what you're worried about.
