Factory Setup

I was lucky enough to try 2 JEMs yesterday.

Store owner said it was the factory setup.
The setup was actually quite nice to play with. (I am used to Fender custom setups as this would be my first JEM... prolly not last)

So question:
If I order one, is the factory setup OK or was I just lucky to have a good one?

Re: Factory Setup

Very lucky

Actually really it's just kind of hit and miss

Mine have just always been misses (as she says)

Re: Factory Setup

The factory setup isn't bad, but if you get one and get it setup to Rich's specs, it'll be much better.

Re: Factory Setup

I would agree with Jimmy. I wish I could afford sending Rich every guitar for a set up. However, having said that, I think everyone who plays should know how to set up a guitar to some level at least. Ive seen a few entries here where people play guitar, but they dont know how to even change the strings.

Re: Factory Setup

I'll echo what others have said. If you want to guarantee that you get a Jem that is set-up amazingly well out of the box, buy it from Rich @ Ibanez Rules. I've bought 2 guitars from him and from my experience, his set-up work is some of the best I've seen.

I consider buying from Rich, though I am from Europe, so shipping and tax will be a .... you know what.

But probably still cheaper than in Austria. Make sure you check it out. I saved about £300 on my RG 20th
