If you don't want it don't trade. Don't let others try to convince to you to either. It's your guitar and if you feel you're being ripped off then don't do it.

I wouldn't worry about that. If you fell you're being ripped off then I wouldn't do it regardless of difference in value.

Re: fair trade?GIBSON LP CLASSIC for JEM7D?

I agree. If the trade would make you happy, then do it. If the trade would make you feel ripped off, then don't do it. I swapped guitars with a friend of mine about a year or two ago and gave him a much higher quality guitar than he gave me, but I was looking for something that could be abused and damaged without me feeling bad, and I never played the guitar I gave up anymore, so we both felt fine with the trade, as uneven as it was. To this day he's still apologizing, and I still feel that I got what I wanted out of it, so I'm completely satisfied. If you're going to have any doubt at all, simply don't go through with the trade, save up some cash, and then buy yourself the jem 7d without having to give anything up (aside from all the meals you won't eat to save the money...)

Didnt you want a BSB?

why not just sell the Les Paul and then shop around for the right jem?

Re: fair trade?GIBSON LP CLASSIC for JEM7D?

Remember, a LP is a limited instrument compared to a Jem: no Floyd Rose floating trem, short 24" scale (vs. 25.5" on the Jem), much heavier construction, boat neck vs. Wizard style.......

The Les Paul is a wonderful instrument- but it was designed 50 years ago.
You may notice most highly technical players do not play them - they do one thing real good, but don't offer the tonal options a Jem style guitar offers.

What style of music do you play? If it's Vai type stuff you will NOT be happy with a Les Paul.

Just my 2 cents.....good luck.

I agree with Jemaholic. Les Pauls sound nice but they are clunky and heavy. I've never been a big fan of LPs. If you don't like how the trade is goin then don't do it. I would be looking to unload a LP personally but they sell for a good deal. I'd try to sell the thing for cash and then see what's out there. If that doesn't sound good to you then keep your guitar.

It's only fair if you think it is. I'd compare prices. I know when I look at les paul prices they're usally twice as much as a Jem. If you're not wanting the les Paul anymore, maybe sell it for more $ than a the jem. THen buy a Jem and pocket the rest of the cash. I have a hard time trading something that's worth more for something worth less. At the time it seems good, but eventually end up feeling ripped off. I hate that feeling.

Re: fair trade?GIBSON LP CLASSIC for JEM7D?

Jems have a high resale value. The jem7d is cheaper new I think but the resale prices are fairly close.

Do it if you like it better. I have a LP classic and since i got my 7vwh I hardly play it anymore. I'd like it better if it had some good pickups in it, like Burstbuckers or the Burstbucker Pros (Im not sure which to get but I know I like the sound of the Burstbucker Pros used in the current LP standards a lot!)

Im not too much for LP's so I would trade but then again I would just buy a Jem and keep the LP. If you dont want a Jem, dont trade.

I'd offer them $300 for the difference and consider that. If you like the Jem a lot better, then do it.

I'm glad I kept my Les Paul though - it has a fixed bridge so it's quick to tune so it gives me more versitality. Plus now I have a Les Paul, a strat and a Jem. You can base all your guitars off a Les Paul or a strat, and the Jem is a sort of inbetween.

Again, just sell the Gibson for good/big bucks (someone will most likely pay) and then be cool and shop around for the Jem you want...

by "be cool" i mean "dont let the cash burn a hole in your pockets"...
