Fake Jem 7V?

Whats the odds of getting a fake jem from a dealship?
Can someone post a comparision?

Fake JEMs are the lowest quality guitars on the planet, a $100 starter guitar would be better quality than a fake JEM. If you want one purely for the look then mod a 350 or find a genuine 333.

A 333? You mean they make or have made something lower than the 555?

if they order from ibanez, odds are about 0..

once you get it, compare to pics on the net of real ones and chibanez if you don't know the diff. it will be fairly obvious. but yeah any good dealer will get you a proper ibanez.

it's only available in places where chibanez are big, as a more realistic cheap competitor against them. ibanez were losing too much money over it i think, so they released the 333 and pgm3..

the most obvious sign of a fake, is jem jnr on the headstock.the chances of your local guitar store selling one is zero i would have thought,the staff should know there stuff.you often see these 7vwh for sale here (jemsite).id much rather buy off one of the jemsite lads rather than evilbay.

Lower on a new guitar obviously, as the dealer should know from where the instrument was ordered. If it's used, and your dealer is a complete idiot in all things guitar, then the odds go up. And yeah, they could go up a bit these days.

But fear not, this fine site of ours does have forum sponsors who would be happy to not only sell you a Jem that is absolutely legitimate, but well sorted and very competitively priced as well. I would suggest you buy from one of them and not lose any sleep over what you might be getting from an obviously questionable dealer offering a 'good deal'.

yep jemjr or 555 is a sign.. also check the serial starts with F and says Japan.
and compare the bridge to pics of an ibanez vwh bridge on the net. it's the most surefire method as no chibanez has ever replicated the ibanez bridges well yet.

The 333 does exist though as I understand it, it isn't sold new in the US. I don't know how good or bad a 555 is as when I questioned someone semi-local about his including some really cheap no-name pickups in it his answers made me uncomfortable. Do they actually build faker 555's or would this be a case of a guy raiding the Evolutions out and still trying for $700 used?
