Finding New Trem for JEM Project

I see JEM bodies all the time on ****, usually swirl designs and I am trying to determine if that is something I want to pursue. One snag is that most bodies will only accomodate the original edge trems, and not the edge II or III. I don't want to add used hardware (unless it is in great shape) to a JEM body so what are my options? Can the older edge trems still be purchased new? Any recommendations from others who have built their own JEMs?

You can still purchase an Edge, Lo-Pro or Edge Pro Kit brand new from Rich or on the bay from a few reputable sellers. Just because the guitar is routed for an Edge doesn't mean that you have to buy a used trem.

Get one from Rich, he's got parts. He's also a great guy and good to deal with, www.ibanezrules.com, check under "PARTS" and/or shoot him an e-mail.

Re: Finding New Trem for JEM Project

Second that about Rich!

If you're scoping swirls on the Bay, stay clear of the bodies by Pearleguitars. I ordered one and it was a mess! No prep sanding was done, before he swirls the bodies. The body wood was junk (said it was alder I believe, but you could flick it and leave a dent! No lie). And the routes were sloppy. His swirl jobs are killer in the pix. A little sloppy on the drips, fish eyes, etc... and it needed a good clear coat.
Standing8Count on here can verify all of this.

But if you dip a turd in gold, it's still a turd!

He might be a good guy to have swirl an existing body though?
Just some useful info for you.
Good luck on your build!
