Well I guess I was made to own a BSB. My hands dont swaet at all, no matter how long I play (I can play for hours, and my hands stll wont sweat )

So, since I restained the BSB, the finish remained perfect (the other day, after playing 3 hours straighi with it) I ve noticed some kind of light coloration in my thumb, but is was very hard to notice. I ll think the stain will last. It appears to me that the previous owner had very sweaty hands, and therefor the original stained was heavuly worn off.

Will you share your re-staining experience? I'm very interested to know the following:

Where did you get the stain? Did you clean down any wood or just go over the whole thing?

Cheers

I bought 3 water based wood stains: blue, green and yellow. I also bought a piece of raw maple (in wich i try the diferent mixs til I came up with the right colour, wich looked almost green ).

I used a sponge to aply the stain. I apllied to the whole guitar. But in the back and the neck I had to aply several times because the original stain was almost completely worn off.

Then finaly I aplied a polyurethane natural finish. Its not a clearcoat, but a gentle satinated finish that allows the wood grain to show. Its mate, and is looks very smooth, like an oil finished body.

I dont hace adigital camera right now, but Ill have one next week.

I also replaced the knobs with metal ones, wich I brushed to match the pickguard.

In www. projectguitar.com there is en explanation of the process, in wich I based my work.

Scratches and dings suck, but if you're not playing a guitar it makes no sense to own it I've been really into PRS-guitars lately, but if something happens to one of them because of my playing that's fine with me. I normally swear some and continue playing, it's a guitar not a museum-piece

A few weeks back a guitar of mine fell out of its stand onto the side of my RG2027x and there's a scuff on the side now. Normally I wouldn't mind alot, but because this was my own stupidity I was rather annoyed It was the first real spot on the guitar, so I guess the first one is indeed the hardest
