Floral Jem 77fp - Years of production

I have heard that ibanez quit making this model in 1999. *However, I know of a dealer claiming to have a 2000 Jem 77fp that is still new.

Is there such thing as a year 2000 Jem 77fp?

Is this guy mistaken, correct, or running a scam???

Thanks,

JOE

Actually, 2000 was the last official year of production for the US market. There are some 2001 models that found their way into the states, and they are still available in Japan.

Where can I get a Jem 77FP? It doesn't have to be a US model, even though I would rather have one. Also, what is the going price for one? Thanks, I have been searching for one for quite some time.

I am happy to say I just ordered a new 2000 77fp. *Hopefully it will play as wonderful as it looks, I can't wait to get it. *I have heard nothing but great things about this guitar.

You can find used Jem 77fp's on e-bay quite often. *The prices will very depending on condition.

Rich has some new 2000 models for sale at: ibanezrules.com

Otherwise from my experience they are hard to find in new or mint condition.

I've sent emails to a few dealers that say they have 1 or 2 in stock. What I am figuring is that they are probably not USA models. Do the non-USA models come with the scalloped frets up high? Also, for anyone who has played both a USA and non-USA model, did you notice much of a difference? I care about holding a value after the purchase, but I am not going to pay an arm and a leg for a USA model. Thanksguys.

They're all non-usa models.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Then why do som pages say that the Jem 77FP wasn't made after '98 (I think) and I see others saying they have brand new 2000 and 2001 guitars? If this is true, is there a noticable difference? Sorry for all the ?'s, but I know you guys know the most about the Jems. Thanks.

The only difference you should find in a JEM77FP (aside from the very early models with the Edge trem), would be in the look of the floral design on the front, back, and headstock, they are all made with cloth laying on the body parts and clearcoated over. Each guitar looks different according to how the cloth is layed out. I would recommend getting very good pictures if buying over the net. I bought mine from a reputable dealer online without pictures and although I love the guitar, I have seen others that look much better to my eyes. Also make sure you are getting the proper case with the guitar. I wound up getting a standard no-name case instead of the Jem/UV case.
The pink pickups were also quite faded, as compared to my 777DY which was bought used and actually made a few years earlier.
It was my first Jem and I am still happy, but could have been much happier! *I payed $1,000 even for her in 1998.
