Question

Floral necks???

Hi all. I have question about the Jem 77FP "floral" necks. How thick are they? Are they similiar to the wizard or are they thicker, if so, how much? Also, did the neck ever change at all from 88 to 03?
I am asking because I am planning on finally getting one, but have never had the chance to play one. I currently have a RG770 and love it.

Thanks everyone,
Cory!

Re: Floral necks???

It has the Jem Neck specs like most Jems so it is thicker than the wizard.

Re: Floral necks???

fp neck is thicker. After playing an rg, then trading up to a jem, I can say that I have never looked back. I originally wanted a 777sk, and got the fp (an'8 because it was there and I had the funds if I traded a couple of others in.

I tried a "new" fp a few months before buying mine. There is no comparison IMHO. THe older Jem won hands down. I don't think that the neck was dimensionally very different, but the guitar felt and played better. I don't know if the fret wire spec, and neck finishing has been over the years, but I definately preferred it old style. The only thing I don't like is the neck joint, but overall I am happy.

I tried out a 2000 vwh and felt pretty much the same about that. The modern Jems I have bought feel more like the modern RGs. If you like those alot, then maybe they are the axes for you. Obviously if you get the chance try out an older model.
