I've been in and around the scene longer than my membership here suggests, but I've never heard what this guy is saying before (e-bay item 330196113342)

Is this a load of crap or what? I can well imagine #001 and #777 but why in the hell would #007? Who is going to think "Vai and Bond... Allriiiiight."

I thought the exact same thing as you mate when I saw that, actually know the guy who is selling the guitar (his whole collection is being offed) and he's adament about the #007 being more collectable. But lots of other collectors I've spoken to seem to put importance on that numbered one as well..strange but true from what i know

As long as it's the exact same spec as the other numbers from the 10th series, I'd never shell out more for it just cos it shares Bond's agent number lol.
I would shell out more for that ebony fret board though!
Any other jems with ebony fret boards?

He is implying that because the number 7 plays so heavily into the Jem line (the model numbers) because of Steve's early fascination with numerology, that it is more desirable. I think it is more of a cool side note, but wouldn't really increase the value of the guitar.

What a yahoo. Noticed how he disregards the chrome wear on the single cover, or the fact the fine tuner spring plate is dug into the claw, because it has no STRINGS on it! And is the case original? Is it a 10th case? Which one?!

The lower the number the more inherent perceived collector value. #6 sold for $6200 last year in untouched condition [with a non disclosed replacement [very flamey] neck and later [not correct for the number] case. 7's should get some premium but don't try to tell a collector 007 is worth more than 002, because it's not.

Its got a wierd cut in the fretboard, just above the 24th fret, high E. Dont know how that was made!

Yes, but not all. Some are just horrible, the rest are perfectly fine.

Oddly enough, my local, very well trusted luthier has said that frets falling out of Ibanez guitars (oh, okay, springing, not actually falling out - that's a Parker thing) is a fairly common thing - Rich, do Ibanez glue their frets in, or are they press-fitted only?

That strange "cut" is a really badly done bit of fret end finishing where the file has gouged a valley out of the fretboard BTW.

The guy is the very opposite of this threads title, I hope you don't actually trust him with work.

Of course they glue the frets in. These aren't loose frets, the slots are not deep enough to be seated flush.

Don't think he's a big Ibanez fan...... he was spot on with my VDY - you could have hid a three course meal under some of the sprung frets on that baby.....
