FP Tree of Life Wood stem material?

JEM 77FP "Tree of Life Vine Inlay - this features a wooden (or synthetic wooden) stem"

Must be some kind of Veneer.

What kind of wood is it in the Stem?

I believe it's a plastic compound.

Yeah, coloured paper under plastic.

Not the stem, only the leaves are the colored paper. The stem on the one I had ('90) looked like wood, but I guess it could've been synthetic.

Coloured paper under plastic,now that's a sign of real quality,did they use felt tip to colour in the paper?

Cheap, yes. But how else are they gonna get the brightness of the vine leaves or pyramid inlays?
