Get a "real" JEM...

A while ago I saw a thread on here with someone asking if they should buy a JEM555 or save up more and get a JEM7V.

Pretty much everyone said to save up and get (and I quote) "a real JEM7V".

That was said by a lot of people.

I was just recently wondering: If the JEM555 isn't a real JEM, and the JEM7V is, then what's a JEM77V? Is that a "real" JEM too?

The real Jem doesn't have 5s in the model number or the word 'junior'.

So if someone was to get a JEM77V it wouldn't be considered a "cheaper budget cut" liek the 555?

Re: Get a "real" JEM...

ofcourse not.

Think of it this way,

Epiphone LP -> Gibson Les Paul

Jem 555 -> Japanese made Ibanez Jem

Re: Get a "real" JEM...

the only crappy jems are the 555, 333 and "junior" or whatever. the ones with terrible bridges and half-assed inlays.

- 777 series
- Anniversary models (10th, 20th, 90th, DNA)

Enough said

Re: Get a "real" JEM...

It's easier than that.

'real' Jem - Made in Japan
555, 333 - Made in Korea and Indonesia.

Re: Get a "real" JEM...

The 555/333 series was offered to try and combat the rash of far east fakes. Personally, I would rather see someone spend thier money on a Prestige RG before the cheaper JEMs.

The Prestige is basically a JEM, but without the holes and inlays.

To each his own, but that is my opinion.

i have to disagree there ayrton mate, ive had a prestige and it was nothing like a jem.the only other ibanez i would have outside of jems is j custom.just my opinion but i had a rg2550z and it was a terrible guitar.

Re: Get a "real" JEM...

Jem555 is still a Jem. i don't know if i'm just lucky but i own both guitars and my 555 is almost identical to my 7Vs sound, the feel of the guitar is a different issue but i think 555s are good enough for a starter. IMO

Re: Get a "real" JEM...

No one's disagreeing with that statement. "Good enough for a starter".

The issue here is you can get a Japanese made RG for the same price.

And the JEM77V isn't cheaper than the 7v, it's just different.
