the bridge will go down, so youŽll have to loosen the two screws in the back where the springs are

It will also change the tension on the neck, so a truss rod adjustment will be in the cards as well.

On the truss rod, you'll have to loose it.

And you'll also have to reset the intonation.
(Basically, you need to reset-up the entire guitar after you change your string gauges.)

Re: Got my UV777BK need help

ok thnx all so u dnt recommend it especially that i dnt knw exaclty how to re-setup my guitar..and it costs about 35$ to do that and 15$ new strings..so i guess im gonna delay this procedure btw how often do u change ur strings...?
and why most of the guitarists use 09 strings? ( i prefer 08 they seem much much better )

String gauge is a matter of preference, that's it.
There is a tradeoff between sound and comfort, with more or less vibrating mass.
I change my strings each 6 to 8 months, sometimes more. I don't like new strings.
I guess you should pay for the setup. You probably won't need to make deep adjustements again.
And play with wrong strings is a pain in the azz.

Re: Got my UV777BK need help

The tech section of this site, as well as Ibanezrules are both excellent in taking off the training wheels for your own set-ups. It's well worth the effort. Might be worth doing on a cheaper guitar until you're comfortable with your own skills.

Dan Erlewine has some excellent books which are deep dives into guitar set-up/repair. The latest revision has him working on a RG570.

In the meantime, having a good tech/luthier you can take your guitar to is your best bet.

Personally, I hate setting intonation, so I'll pay every few years. Especially if you don't have an intonation adjustment tool.

I recently switched back to 9's as I found 8's to be a little too sensitive. Fret a chord a little heavy and it sounded off. I always played 8's because they were easier to bend. But the switch back to 9's was well worth it, and my increased finger strength made up the difference in no time.
