Guitar Center is CRAZY - last year jem7vwh: $1450.00, this y

Hi guys, last year, i went to guitar center, and i asked how much a jem7vwh was. they said $1600, but thats the starting price, they usualy lower it between 100-200.

now i called guitar center to see what they wanted for a jem7vwh, they now want $1800. period. how rediculous is that?

and also, last year a uv777bk was $1550 (start at $1700) and this year its $1560. does this make any sense to anyone?

first of all the jem went up $350, secondly the UV is not only less than the jem now, its also less than its own cost last year

anyone get this?

You must be really glad they're not charging you $1950.....With the quoted price, you're saving $150.....what's wrong with that?

Oh...and btw...IT'S GUITAR CENTER!!!!!!! There's nothing to get.

GC@san fr'isco is charging full list for a 7vWH w/ steve's signature.

i'm sure someone will see the value in that, but to me the only value of a signature would be if i got it done myself.. as a special moment

In defense of GC, Ibanez raised the list price on the 7VWH. *Also, the guitar market isn't doing so well so they might be trying to make more money per item. *You should still be able to get one around $1499

Only 2750? Here in Norway the list price for a 7V is 31500 NOK, or 3,528.54$ :loco: Any higher? *

Funny, I also noticed that Guitar Center has their holiday prices up. *All this is based on my own assumptions, but I think it makes sense.

I think they bump stuff up around Christmas by a couple hundred dollars so that unsuspecting buyers (mostly parents at this time of year) pay a little extra. *Check back with them right after the holidays and I bet there's some negotiation room again.

Or just go to Guitar World (www.ibanezrules.com). *Rich just acquired a Jem7VWH.

Well, here in Portugal the VWH list price is about $2700. Fortunately i could get mine for about $2200. Much higher than in the US, but in Europe these things are MUCH higher priced...

And then there's the OTHER side of GC. Like when you walk in on sale day, knowing that there's NOTHING they could have that could really interest you, but you figure you'll check it out anyway, and they have two UV777BKs marked down to $999. And they sell you a UV1000C to go with it for $100.

I HATE days like that.

Well the UK is quite highly priced, I paid £1400 ($2240) *for my 7VWh, and the list price here is £1899 ($3000) plus a 4 month waiting time.

I saw a Jem777SK for £500 ($800) With no pickups and a chip in the back the size of a cassette tape down to the wood. Oh and the headstock had been snapped off and glue (very badly) back on.

Hmmm to pricy in the UK

If they were cheaper i would have more.

Remember...no matter what....it's still not nearly as bad as Gibson has become in the past few years. *I remember no more than 10 years when you could actually get a decent Les Paul for under a grand. *And were not talking the low-end stripped down model. *Were talking some nice adornments.

Gibsons gone nuts....and the resale market for them has followed suit pretty steadily.

Good Ibanez' guitars can still be ahd reasonably for under a grand. *Used Universes rarely go for more than a grand on eBay and that's usually pretty consistent as well for Jems (oddities not withstanding).

Just remember.....it's not as bad as it could be.

But then again, I was in there last nite (6 months later), and the other UVBK (the one I didn't buy) was still hanging on the wall w/ a $1500+ tag on it. And they had a used one for only $1200.

Consistency is not GC's hallmark. But you can work 'em if you're patient and pay attention......
