Re: Guys, what is this??
As soon as we're settled in and I get some time--there will be visits!
Gotta head to SP at some point to see Pepper Bro.
Will head to IL for some time with Ryc.
Will also make my way to NJ to see the old fart....but only on a Thursday....

Yeah, it's an '87 black block trem. It looks like it has the earlier style fine tuners with the big top edge bevel.

Yes, but I meant black as in not cosmo. Can't be sure with those 640 pictures. You have to love sellers that use the smallest size pictures you can shoot.

I think everything is black except for the nut pads, which are clearly cosmo.
One strange thing I just noticed is that the serial plate is 870282. I would generally assume that neck plate would be on an LNG.

Re: Guys, what is this??
Looks like it might just be the pads.
Almost everything would have been off a breakdown. IIRC what I didn't like about the neck is what I assumed it falied for and why it ended up on this guitar, failed parts were dirt cheap if not free. You could buy a trem with a scratch for $10.

See this bugs me even more (presumably due to my ignorance on the subject)- but surely as Jems and whatnot are MIJ guitars, the rejected parts would be dumped in Japan, and never make it over to a Hoshino USA employee?
EDIT: Nevermind, the word breakdown just sunk into my head. Guitar broken up for parts for whatever reason, gotcha! Ignore me lol.

Re: Guys, what is this??
It would have either been caught by a checker at HUSA, or returned after being rejected by a dealer, or warranty claim from a customer. Just because it makes it through the pipeline doesn't mean it's good.

Re: Guys, what is this??
Yeah that occurred to me after I posted, hence the edit. Too much faith in Japanese factories!
