Heaven forbid that this happen, but....

Seeing what BC rich just did with Chuck, and what Dean did with dimebag, What do you think Ibanez would do if Vai passed away? What kind of guitar do you think they would make? would there still be a Jem line?

Maybe they would mourn with an all black guitar

Or what if one of their newer endorsees died, like Matt bachand....what do you think will happen to his signature line?

I can imagine ibanez doing a bunch of tribute models for George Benson..

Do you tihnk it is okay that companies profit off them?

eh....mods, you can close this if you find this too offensive, which i have a feeling you will...

It's not my call, and either way it's not offensive. It's just useless thoughts. If Vai died, do you really think people would want a guitar to come fresh after he died to commemorate his death. I mean, dude... Dimebag was different. He had plans to release a line of dean guitars, and although they shouldn't have been released or just made a limited run, Dean twisted his death nut sack and poured gold out his ass.

I guess what i am trying to say is that there is no point into thinking things like this. Unlike other artists, Steve's personal guitars were almost all produced and sold. What would be the point. We'd already all have a piece of him. Also i don't like to think of making profit on him. Let him rest if he dies. Buy vintage or whatever jems they'll be making by then.

As long as the discussion stays civil I don't think this is offensive.

I think that the JEM line is probably still just about popular enough to survive as it's own identity after Steve's passing.

I certainly doubt that Gibson will cease production of the Les Paul should Lester not happen to live forever.

I'd imagine the Jem line would continue, I dont think a memorial model would be released, least i'd hope not. But it makes you wonder what they would do with colour schemes, would the two current ones just continue to run forever?

anyway lets hope we dont have to think about this for decades

We could call Michael Crichton and have him clone Steve. We could make an amusement park out of it...dinosaurs and Steve Vai!

Seriously, I don't think it's a bad conversation, especially considering how they milk Dime, SRV, and Hendrix dry. Jimi Hendrix energy drink?!? Really?!? Al Hendrix; you should be ashamed of yourself!!! :P

I think Ibanez would be tasteful. They never seemed to me to be over-the-top like Dean, Fender, or some of their other competitors.

It doesn't matter anyway. Steve seems to be a healthy guy and will live forever! LOL!

I would assume they'd continue the line and pay Steve's estate. Steve looks to be in good health though, so health and long life to Steve

Re: Heaven forbid that this happen, but....

Just like the Rhoads V

Hopefully the Jem lives as long

It really comes down to what the executor/executrix of the estate would want to do, and what Steve had in his will...Which of course the executor/executrix could interpret whatever way they chose.

Steve is a pretty spiritual guy, so if his children could benefit from his name in a positive way, I think he would be okay with that...

Just a thought...

Re: Heaven forbid that this happen, but....

Yeah but there are only two that are ALL black, no ? I was gonna correct him last night, but he specifically said all black. Maybe i am wrong, but i imagine that all black needs to include the pickguard too.

Hey btw, are the knobs supposed to be white or black on the 7PBK ? Cause mine are white :S
